I flew with my onewheel to Austin Texas to do some cable riding at this wakeboard cable park called BSR in Waco, TX....I boarded around Austin a bit and the cable park as well. Had no trouble flying with it in the overhead bins above both there and back.

@Wakeboarder54 what airline was this? Did they even question you? Glad to hear you were able to travel with it.

@Wakeboarder54 What airline did you fly? Did you have any issues with TSA? Good to know that it fits in the over head on larger planes. Likely will not fit on the Regional jets.

@LidPhones @GlueBreath The airlines was Delta I believe but most of the time I try and fly Southwest, Alaska, or Frontier. No issues with TSA at all. Just put in on the X-ray scanner and they scanned it just like shoes or a laptop or backpack....

No problems at all.....wanted to ride it threw the airports bad!!! But didnt want security to chase me down!! I still want a bag though that @Jimmers75 makes!! Those look awesome and be great for a long trip to Florida or Mexico where I wouldn't want it in an overhead compartment or may not have room for it.

@Wakeboarder54 thanks for the info! I have a trip coming up in 2 days on Southwest from Chicago to San Diego but I'm too chicken shit to take a chance and not be allowed to board considering I'm taking a cab to the airport.. I don't know you got me wanting to try LOL.. Would love to be able to take my OW to ride around San Diego and San Fran. During my trip.

@GlueBreath Do it!! There is no problem once so ever! The guys at onewheel told me to do it, I asked them originally and if they have any questions just show them that there is a battery installed in bottom of deck. And was told prior by many people that it counts as a carry on and can store in the above storage. One the way back from Texas the upper storage was too full so I just tucked it by my seat underneath and had a window seat so they couldnt tell or see it...

@Wakeboarder54 you know what screw it I'm gonna go for it!!! I would rather not be 2 weeks without it haha.. plus the prospect of new grounds to ride is too tempting to pass up.. flat lands with fucked up sidewalks/streets is getting a bit boring in my Lil town.

@Aaron-Broward-FL Just naked....no bag just stuck in in the above carry on space or below me at my feet next to the window on the return flight and no problem....most people just think its an advanced skateboard.

Just a couple of things, many airlines are now maxing carryon bags at 22x14x9 and the OW is more than 30" long.
And, I was at the Surf Expo in Orlando last week and the OW guys seemed to indicate that flying with the OW has become a little more difficult.
The thing about traveling and checking in the Boosted board is that their lowest power, boosted board is 99wh (airline max is 100wh). I think our OW's are 130wh??

    @Roy
Great details on the max Wh limit. The OW really needs a removable battery. Then we could pull it off the OW and carry it on with us. The OW could be checked as baggage.

Removable/swappable battery would be fantastic @LidPhones, but it wouldn't help us with the airline issue. The battery itself is the issue. Doesn't matter if you take it out, carry it on, check it, stuff it in your shorts, or paint it purple... they won't let you on the plane if they know you have it. We need @Future-Motion to work on this for us at a higher level.

@jordo That is very true. If they catch the over capacity battery it will not travel with you.. Well for the short term maybe a removable and swappable battery at the current limit allowed. Problem on that would be I (and the rest of the OWers) would carry several of the allowed batteries with us on the flight.

@jordo BUT - shipping your battery to your destination would be WAY cheaper than shipping the entire f'in thing lol

@hustle Yes, and if we had
swappable batteries, shipping a battery would be painless. But, for some locales, it would be pretty cool to have the OW ready to go right at the airport. Newark airport, not so much, Maui maybe. In time, I hope the airlines will be able to differentiate the safe batteries from the junk using an expanded certification process.

@Roy you know what FM ought to do is put in OW vending machines at airports. On your way out you could grab yourself a rechargeable battery pack (which could be returned or shipped back at a later time for a partial refund) or an entire OW if you didn't transport your board.

@groovyruvy I'm afraid they will not put those machines in sketchy small airports in Romania where I have to fly for work... :-)

Just flew from San Francisco to NY, with a layover in Chicago and had no issues bringing my onewheel with me! No case or anything, just brought with me as a carry on, it fits nice in the regular airplanes, the flight from Chicago to NY was a small plane so couldn't fit. No issues whatsoever. About to go ride in the snow! Can't wait :)

@mathfreire Did you have to deflate the tire? I remember reading somewhere that they don't allow inflated objects...

I flew with United, and no I didn't deflate my tire or anything special. Nobody asked me anything or complained about it, so my advise is go for, take it with you everywhere! It was pretty fun riding in the snow!
