I ordered my OW about 3 weeks ago, then the next morning someone posted a gently used board for sale. I was riding by the day after that, and FM gladly refunded my order (seriously, their service is absolutely incredible).

@eish I've already sent my secondhand board in for service (received it back under 48 hours by the way...). Their service is excellent. @NYC Again, personal preference, so I understand. As an aside, after 3 days of riding your board is going to look secondhand anyway. Just wanted to see what everyones reasoning was. I hope your factory boards show up ASAP so you can get riding!

FWIW, I thought seriously about writing and asking when I heard the ship time had dropped to 4-6 weeks, but decided I'd hold off another couple of weeks. So I have never written to ask.

Yes, order and ship date are the most important because they are universal dates for everyone regardless of ship location.

Seems like future motion is keeping up the practice of over promising on ship dates when they lowered it. Maybe they enjoy the hazing lol! If they had kept it at 10 weeks they would be surpassing expectations! Either way glad ship times are coming down.

Thankfully they over deliver on how awesome the product is which is the most important thing.

That places orders anywhere from 7/12 to to 8/1 into the latest production run. If so, that means either they're manufacturing in very large batches (wherein your personal wait time may vary as much as 3 weeks depending on precisely when in the production cycle you order), or the wait times/backlog just dropped dramatically (which was hinted at in an earlier FM post).

As an impatient orderer, I want to believe wait times are down, but I can't set myself up for such torture.

Yeah, I suspect something in the supply chain requires a pretty big window for so much variance in order completion. That must explain why they are concentrating so many orders at once, there's got to be a bottle neck somewhere in there.

I wrote support about my order, which was placed slightly before eisha's, who just received his today. Here is their response:

"We actually had a glitch in the system that shuffled around orders - your friends order must have been one of the lucky ones. Your board should be in our shipping queue in the next week and be on it's way soon after."

I ordered 8/15 (which was over a weekend). If the reply ends up being accurate, shipments are now occurring about a month after order placement.

I must say that the people at onewheel definitely answer their emails rather quick. I can wait a few more weeks. If that's the case it looks like it will be 7 weeks. At least i get a little bit of riding before the snow and brutal cold hits

I went out on my first ride today and all I can say is that it is worth the wait!! The only down side I have found so far is the battery, I was riding for an hour and checked the app and was at 5%. Nowhere close to home. Thankfully my college campus has a free bus service for students! This thing is MEAN off road and is really easy to pick up, especially if you're already into board sports like me. Learning to really carve and the dismount are the hardest parts. I am literally siting here waiting for it to charge back up for a night cap! Serious fun in store for you guys! Also this is the best conversation starter ever imo.

@slydogstroh DOn't worry about the dismount. I was a bit frustrated too. Once you get that down, you feel a lot more comfortable on crowded sidewalks etc. Just practice brother! Thats my tought too.. Id say i´ve read more issues than complaints. But If I got to wait another 4-5 weeks, but not having to ship it back to the states for 300$ to repair it, then its worth it. If it is those issues they are working on, and not just to many orders.

@rainynite, while we all sympathize about delivery delay frustration...there is no other place you can get something this amazing. Cancelling no matter what is a mistake unless you have an opportunity to buy a used one.

Guys, keep your heads up. It's worth the wait even as frustrating as the runaround is. In the big scheme of things 10 weeks is reasonable if that is what they need. Now only if they would start advertising that...

@Brutha-Man the original Kickstarter backers were told August but the first batch was October or November I believe and most other waited several more months. Then they started taking orders in January advertising 8 weeks even though many backers were still waiting. If you ordered in January you were lucky to get delivery by early April. I ordered early April when they were advertising 8 weeks and it came around 11weeks.

Besides waiting extra long for our boards, the other thing we have in common is that we couldn't live without them after they arrived.

Obviously I have no idea what they are doing or why they choose to advertise best case scenario ETAs, but once you are riding you will forget all about the wait.

It's possible they are working on a fix to some of the issues some of us have had with the motor. Or they could be waiting for components that are delayed. They keep their cards close to the vest so it's hard to know. I've joked that this is your initiation into the onewheel owners club and that continues to be true.

I think I've mentioned this before but just to show how stir crazy I was waiting for delivery....

I planned to have my board delivered to my home rather than work which I have most things delivered to. But my wife told me she was going to be working at my company the day of delivery. I told her I planned on staying home that day at least until ups delivered but I'd see about changing delivery to work. So I went on the ups app and changed delivery to an address a half hour from home. After that ups tracking couldn't give me an eta so I was concerned it would be delayed because of the change. But it was in transit from CA and I was expecting it to work out. Anyway the night before my original eta I woke up at 2am and saw my package was still sitting in a neighboring state as if it was in limbo. I got out of bed and started calling ups and got someone who couldn't help me. She said when you reroute a package it can take extra days for delivery. I told her if I knew that I never would have done it. We went around in circles in the wee hours and I finally said goodbye. About 5am I saw it was again in transit heading to my state. And a couple hours later it was on a truck and got delivered before I got into work!

Bottom line, I get it. And now I'm waiting for mine to get back from repair but the fact I had three amazing months of riding makes a huge difference.

I apologize we didn't give you more information on your order sooner. We had a slight delay with all production which moved all order shipments back a few weeks. The good news is your board has completed it's manufacturing and will be shipping at the end of the month from our fulfillment center!

@eish I had the same Problem. I sent my board in for a repair, took a week to hear back from them. on the return I received a tracking number. It said it would deliver on wed. It never arrived, they created a label but never shipped. I sent a concerned email about my board getting lost on the way and they told me it didn't leave FM yet, so later on the day I received another tracking number. Very weird. so this whole shipping deal took 6 days

@Brutha-Man as a small growing company - production and logistics issues are not uncommon and based on the folks in this forum I think most would forgive. EXCEPT that they are neither upfront nor transparent about it. The early adopters have raved about the excellent service provided by FM... i would say that this reputation is going down the drain.

I sincerely hope FM will take the time to be more transparent and open to the community that is supporting them. It's not the delays (albeit painful) that is frustrating everyone as much as how FM is responding to those problems (seemingly pretending they don't exist)

@administrators @Future-Motion - please read this thread and see how everyone is feeling. Good service = Be transparent / give realistic expectations / meet those realistic expectations.

I didn't receive my own board straight from FM as I bought it used, but I did order my fender from FM. When I tracked the fender I noticed FM's fulfillment center might have some strange shipping practices. I'm about 45 miles south of Santa Cruz, and San Francisco is about 75 miles north of Santa Cruz. Well my fender was shipped from Santa Cruz to San Francisco and THEN back south to my location. Although the fender reached me pretty fast, the route it took seemed inefficient. There is the possibility it could've been UPS's routing system for 2 day delivery, which I think I might have opted for.

On a side note, I first glimpsed a OW on a bay area news segment a few weeks back, during which they said FM advised buyers place your order soon if you wanted one in time for the holidays. That's when I decided to keep an eye out for a used one. I really do think FM is getting swamped with orders and struggling with fulfillment.

this makes sense re the new boards, but I sent mine in due to an issue, assuming it ships this Friday @Future-Motion and UPS will have had my board longer than me!

I sent it on the 25th, they got it on the 28th, it was fixed on the 2nd before lunch, and I got ups details on the 6th saying it would ship on the 9th (I mean 1 week from fixed to shipped seemed long enough (where I last worked retail with online sales ups came daily (excluding Sunday/Weekend) to pick up orders)) but it still shows no change today!

What makes it even worse is I emailed Sunday to find out why it hadn't updated and I still haven't heard back form them! I mean I don't expect instant replies but three days is a bit much! (I know there is still a bit of today left on the west coast so fingers crossed for an update later today)

I'm strongly leaning towards canceling my order at this point. I ordered Aug 9, with a promise of 4-6 weeks and then it was moved to 7-8 weeks. After 8 weeks I again asked for an update and was told that my board was finished and would ship from the fulfillment center on Oct 15 (so 9+ weeks). No email on the 15th, so I asked again on the 16th and was told it will likely be shipped by the end of October... They must have been stringing me along intentionally. Especially when they said that my board was finished and shipping on the 15th, only to add >2 weeks after that. I just don't see how that's a mistake. I understand that it's a fun product, but I have a really hard time paying almost $2k to someone who intentionally misinforms me for their own gain.... Or does anyone here think that the shipping estimates were actually in good faith?

How long did people ride on out if he people who recently got there boards, has anyone switched to extreme yet? I think I've picked it up pretty easy. I use to skateboard when I was a lot younger. It's the turning on grass that's giving me a problem. They say extreme mode is suppose to feel like lossenonf the trucks on your skateboard. Maybe could help with the turning? Yeah my left leg and ankle are sore from leaning forward. I ride goofy footed. I did a lot on the sidewalks and they are all cracked with acorns all over so I was hitting quite a few bumps which probably had something to do with it.

Just heard back from Onewheel re. my order placed September 3. Last time I heard from them they said I'd have my board at the beginning of November. Now they're saying my board will be finished in the beginning of December and be packaged to ship the week after. I guess I'll be lucky if I have my board before Christmas, seeing that I'm based in Europe and the package might get snatched up in customs for some time.

If nothing else, this process has teached me a valuable lesson in patience! :grin:

To all that are waiting and frustrated, a lot of us were there once. I just want to reiterate what has been said in this thread. It is worth the wait, do not cancel! I have had my board one full day, spent many hours riding yesterday and i absolutely love it. Legs and feet are a bit sore today, but that will not stop me from riding as much as i can tolerate today! I also ordered a 2nd board! (my wife wants to try.. and if she does not stick with with.. i will have a backup board!).

Also ordered some replacement bumpers. Already scraped my current ones up pretty bad. :)

I spent several hours at a soccer field with very short grass. Great place to learn without hurting yourself when you push too hard and eat it. :facepunch:

I sent an inquiry at 8 weeks. They responded with a nice apology and an est. ship date. I sent a second inquiry when second est. ship date passed. They sent a nice response again and it did ship by the second est. ship date. From other responses it looks like squeaky wheel helped me out.

The only consistency with these guys has been giving false information when it has been requested, and the wait between ordering and receiving the product longer rather than shorter.
I placed an order on August 31.

After writing two emails at the beginning of Novemeber, I got the following reply:

If all goes as planned your board should be shipping around the end of this month. I apologize this shipment will be a bit later then we initially expected - last month increased demand stressed one of our component suppliers which delayed shipments. We are happy too say we are now shipping again after a bit of a lull. This did however push production and shipment back a few weeks. We are catching up again and will get your board shipped as soon as we can!

I wrote an email this past Thursday, and recieved no reply. I asked again on Friday, still no reply. After two emails today, I recieved this:

Thanks for following up. We are still currently on track for your board to finish it's production at the end of this month. Once it is complete it will be packaged and on it's way. You can expect to receive your tracking by the second week of December (and possibly sooner)!

We are excited to get your feet on your board.

I figured the whole "squeaky wheel gets the grease" saying and first person that wrote me back squeezed me ahead of the few people that were waiting that ordered before me.
However, it now makes sense that the second email yesterday was in regards to my earlier posts (being told the beginning of November that my board would ship at the end of the month, and then being told later that my board would be finished being manufactured at the end of the month and I would receive tracking "mid December."

Again, the customer service is a bit off. I was promised someone would contact me at least a week prior to shipping, due to the face that I will be splitting time evenly between to far away places over the next few months. This did not happen.

And for all the "onewheel intiation wait phase people. Get over yourselves. As stated previously, other than the Kickstarter people (when you never know if a product will be actually released, and you're taking a risk buying it), as well as right after it came out, this last group waited the longest. People have every right to be upset at waiting over 13 weeks for something after they were told initially it would be only 4-6 weeks, and then maybe a few weeks longer based the current production process.... The whole process should not be getting longer.

It makes me wonder when you see people like YouTube vloggers, etc, that get them in the mail only a week or two after discovering them. I understand "product awareness" since celebrities reach numerous individuals, but when you have a demand that's already pushing your product over a two month waiting period, you should not be concerned with "product awareness."

I don't want to sound like I'm griping.... I'm not. I just don't want to see this company fail because of poor management/leadership decisions.

I have a crappy old iphone 4 that won't run the onewheel app. Do I need a phone with the app for the board to operate?

@jp glad your board is finally on the way! You do not need a phone with the app for the board to operate, but you will not be able to change the mode and check the battery/stats. And i believe you will not be able to load any new firmware.

I highly recommend at least switching the board to extreme mode, almost right away (if not right away). You will hit the push back pretty quick if you leave the board as is.

Maybe you have a friend with a phone running iOS 8.2 or newer? Just to get the board switched to extreme mode.

Regardless, you will be a very happy OW rider very soon!

Looks like FM are picking up the pace now! Super happy to say I woke up to my shipping confirmation this morning which puts order to tracking info at exactly 9 weeks in my case. Originally told 6-8 weeks but I was expecting 12+ after spending an unhealthy amount of time reading these forums (@njcustom I blame you whole heartedly!) so I'm definitely not complaining.

I got responses from Onewheel, that they were waiting on part that was holding them up. My guess they had a bunch of half/mostly assembled onewheels waiting on this part so they were able to do a whole bunch. That being said, they seem to be heading to their original 6-8 quoted shipping times so they must have improved production as well. Cheers to them!

Ordered 9/15....received 12/9.

I'm thoroughly impressed with it after about 3-4 hours of learning the ropes. I was surprised at how solid the OW is built. It's like a little rolling tank, that accelerates on command. I can't wait to master it!

To all of those on the bench waiting to get in the game: try your best to find something else to distract you in the meantime. It's a high-end, specialty product and although the delayed ship times are frustrating, the folks at FM are producing some legit, AMERICAN MADE nuggets that will blow your minds once you start rolling...hopefully some sweet vids to come.

In a world of cheap consumer crap and instant gratification, anticipation is in short supply. Cherish the waiting period.

I don't know about you guys, but I have a relentless line-up of deadlines: payroll, compliance audit, building inspection, kid's birthday, payroll again... It was great to counterbalance those things with something to really look forward to.

It sounds like the wait-time has been reduced a bit, so the new guys don't get to savour the anticipation for quite as long. Now that I have mine, the waiting is forgotten.

Looks like they are finally catching up probably as they get production down to a tee but also demand is probably slower right now. Hopefully they will get to the point of having inventory soon and we can lay this post to rest! Then the question will be what next? Right now I'd imagine sales are not dramatically increasing even though the concept and form factor are breakthrough compared to electric skateboards. Will larger distribution through retail outlets bring wider awareness and promote ow? Will they make it more accessible via upgrading mileage or lowering the cost? Seems to me like they need to do something to gain a wider market share besides having inventory. Thoughts?

Open the box ride it till the batteries are drown out and than make the first charge? 2. When should I callibrate the batteries for the first time on the first day or only weeks after? @mAz Congrats on your board! Your priorities as you know them are about to be all out of whack. Don't let people nag you about those pesky issues such personal relationships, child care, showing up for work, etc. Anyways there's lots of opinions out there but here ya go: Open the box, turn on and try some balancing in a safe environment like on carpet or something forgiving. Roll back and forth, do some turns, yada, yada, yada. After that find something to hold onto while you master dismounting. I used some type of hutch thing in our living room while watching a game. Do it over and over and over. Yes, it will get boring but you will build muscle memory and you will never look like a clown having to jump off your board every time or ever. This will also prevent you from completely shredding the new finish off your board...Not a big deal - It will happen eventually but it's not cute when your board is brand new and shiny. Plug in and charge til full while reading the manual. Change to extreme mode and take it to the streets for some real riding. Charge your board overnight. Sweet dreams!

I am a OneWheel rider now! To be honest I didn't think it would be that great, but I was right it's not great!
It's just freeking awesome!!!! Snowboarding on the asphalt for real. I got it 2 hours ago, I got on inside to get a grip and I couldn't resist to go outside. I love it. Got some first time scraches on it and now it's my board. It realy is as much durable than a plain skatboard!
I am lucky, my work is only 4 miles away, I'll ride everyday to work when the weather ok is.
