@jim Thanks Jim. The tire looked like the same material as rollerblade wheels which are plastic. And I thought I heard someone in the video say it is the same material. But I could be wrong. That was helpful feedback, thanks. I guess, don't knock it till ya try it, right?

    No, it won't spontaneously combust.

while searching for new onewheel videos, I stumbled over a youtube video, showing some chineese guys with a prototype similar to that initial "hoverboard" from this thread but in an early development stage. alltough the design is very rough, it seems to work pretty well:

@cr4p damn that looks crazy fun and kinda dangerous at the same time- haha looks faster actually

Competition is always good for us -I definitely wish more quality competitors existed. I love the OW but would totally get one of these 4k "hoverboards" if it was priced closer to the OW.

It could be my daily business/casual commuter, while my Onewheel is the down and dirty side chick I have fun with on the weekends

@cr4p Thanks for sharing the video, The $4k hoverboard rides very similar to the Chinese board in the video.

It's for the street ONLY and who is going to pay 4grand? . I think Onewheel will always be number one

Unless you guys are able to do commutes to work that do not involve sidewalk ramps, decent sized cracks in the road and/or the need to stand still, I would think that the OW would be infinitely more practical to take to the office....coming from someone who rides theirs to work most days.

@forzabucks When I get mine (it's on order) I plan to commute to work (3 miles each way) I can't wait.

@Electric-Slide Yes I saw this last night. It makes me sick. It is made to look kind of like the "Hoverboard Technologies" Board more so than the Onewheel.

@Dude it kinda looks like something in between ... the tire / wheel looks a lot thicker than the Hoverboard? Let's face it. .. competition is coming
