Hoosier must have the correct size. This pic was posted by Future Motion on Facebook some time ago. I don't know the size of it...

@CABALLERO great tip! I found a Hoosier dealer locally and should have the tire within the week.
-
@andyb that's awesome! I glad it worked out for you! Please post a pic when you get it mounted, I'd love to see it.

Guys I need a quick answer. Which side of the onewheel is the valve on?
-
@andyb I'm at work, not sure, but I don't think it matters, the tire doesn't have a direction, can mount it in both ways...
-

I picked up the Hoosier tire and it has a directional arrow. I left the rim at the local tire shop and need to make sure it gets put on tight.
-
Ok, then it depends if you ride goofy or regular also! Maybe can watch some pics or movies to see it quickly

Found a photo online. It showed the valve on the left hand side (from behind). It would be good if someone could confirm this though.

On my OW the tire valve is on the side with the charger-port.
Also, according to the Vega site, "Even though there is a triangle on the tire, the Vega MBM can be mounted in either direction. There is no directional rotation on the tire."
Maybe the same is true for Hoosier

Here I found 1 pic with valve on charger side and 1 pic with valve on button side, so I think FM mounts the tires randomly?
-

Realizing that some versions have the charger port and power button on the same side. My OW is fairly new and the power is on the left rail and charger is on the right when I ride with the sensor pad up front.
-
@Roy I'm pretty sure all OW's are as you describe. I also once saw a picture with charger and button on the same side, but think this was bad photoshop or a computer rendering.

I have a new approach. As far as I can tell looking at the chassy the braided cable is on the left hand side. I should be able to use that orientation to fit the tire. Thankyou to all for your suggestions and help. I will post pictures of the mission once complete.

@andyb
If the tire is non directional, it shouldn't matter.
On mine, the valve is on the right side.
The cable side is on the left. -

It's neither. The original prototypes had the button and charging port on the same side: https://youtu.be/Plnt3Lw7Grc

It doesn't matter matter which way it's mounted..

Can't wait to see how that tire works out, it may be about the only upgrade to the already hi-end Vega tire.

So for those interested here is the final result! Needless to say I'm pretty happy. Two days off the road is two days too long.
I road the new tire into work today and loved it. It's hard to say whether the Hoosier is much different to the Vega as my old tire was very worn and the Hoosier is so sticky and new. I do like how it looks though! -
@andyb Nice! You might be the first to put a different tire on it. Someone call Guiness!

That looks bad-ass, now I can look forward to wearing out my Vega!
What size and compound did you go with?
-
@andyb that looks sick! Thanks for posting the pic.
-
Yep, please post the size for us
Looks great -

The size is the same as the Vega 11.5 x 6.5 - 6. I don't know the compound. I only had a choice of the one tire so couldn't be too fussy about compound. It is marked D20A if that helps. I did fit it with the specified rotation, seemed like the right choice. For anyone wanting to do the change themselves my experience was that removing the wheel assembly was the easy part. I couldn't even get the tire to budge so took it to my local tire guys who used a machine to break the bead then tire spoons to remove and refit the tire. They then used air pressure to reseal the bead. It seemed to take a lot of air pressure to snap the bead back into place so I don't think you could achieve that with a hand pump. It was a bit scary trusting my Onewheel to them but luckily it seems to have worked out well. Given I'm in Australia, sending it back to the US for servicing would have cost at least $500 in shipping and probably taken 3-4 weeks so doing it myself locally was the only real option.

Excellent :D

@andyb
Yep, hearing that pop at the end makes you go, phewwwwwwww....

Good work!
Will be looking to do this when it comes time for my tyre changeout.

@andyb Hi andyb,
I'm also in Australia. Could you tell me where you sourced the Hoosier please? Also, where did you find instructions on how to replace the tyre. Thanks. -
@s-wagstaff
YouTube has a ton of tire change tutorials now. Good resource.
