@madsb Wow that looks cheap. FM has no competition as long as the knock offs remain on this sublevel.

seems like they have their first "promo-video" out there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNiHzEWaq8git really is a shameless china-copy, but as soon as there is the first chinese model available, i won´t be long until there are plenty of those clones from different chinese companys all around (like it happend with the electric unicycles or with the "hoverboards").
think there will always be a market for "the real thing", honoring the quality, but I am afraid a lot of potential buyers can be convinced by such videos. as long as there aren´t any local importers all over the world, avoiding an almost doubled "final price" for worldwide customers (shipping costs, import taxes and customs), I think it might just be too appealing spending half ammount of money on something like this.
-
Looks like a working copy, but I would never, ever suggest someone spend 300-400$ less on a copy to save money, just save money for a longer time. You have no idea about the software, hardware, chemistry of that thing. Could blow up in your face, or someone elses face :P

@BadWolf
at that price it definitly makes no sense to save a few bucks for a US customer, but considering that its a chinese product and therefore import costs are about the same in US as for example in the EU, we are talking about saving more than 1000USD (shipping/customs/taxes)...i have already seen a first shop in denmark offering that thing for round about 950USD , so this might make a huge difference for an european customer who would have to pay something like 2200USD when importing an original onweheel from US.nevertheless i totally agree with you - i would not thrust a chineese modell in terms of blowing up in your face or cracking in two pieces while riding offroad...
also from a technical point of view you can obviously not really compare those two products, but for a quick view, both products look similar and even this video shows somehow the same thing and even the same scenes (cruising, jumping, offroad) if you are not into details.

Unfortunately, this will soon be available on eBay and alieXpress at a 300-500 price point. The reseller is basically importing from China and adding a huge markup.

LOL, can't wait to see these in "Action" or inaction. It's junk

The onewheel has appropriately coped(angled to match the plane of the ground) end blocks. The Chinese platform, lacking this and undoubtedly a whole lot more, looks unprepared for a nose dive or any close tolerances with the ground. Also the foot sensors look lame. I would much rather have flat real estate for my feet to talk to the board. The nightrider light effects look kinda cool though.

Frankly I am amazed at a) their ability to reverse engineer everything and b) how they don't even bother to hide that it is a reverse engineered copy.
At any rate frankly I am a bit worried about posting these videos in this forum. I'm afraid it will cause an unexpected side effect of increasing demand for the Chinese knock offs based on price and / availability.

@killerClownShoes That thing actually looks like fun! For the cost it may provide a high entertainment value even though performance is not the same as OW.
-
@killerClownShoes ...And I would like to see that one wheeled, self balancing bike sitting in the video ridden around.

@killerClownShoes The bike looks like a cheap copy of one of these https://youtu.be/0wTfQiGFAKE
