@No this is what I was wanting to hearโ๐โ
-
Thank you @No. I am riding it today and will compare the two side by side. I'll try to get video if I have time.

50% boost in power
Maybe I missed something but going from a 500W motor to a 750W motor is a very significant change. One would think that would be something to put on the bullet point in the sales ads. I am very surprised that we are just now learning about this. That is something that could have helped hyped up the Plus and driven more people on the fence to buy. Seems like a huge miss by the marketing and advertising department!
-
@RandomNate I agree, I purchased it day 1, but the whole time I've been waiting I had this voice in the back of my head doubting the significance of the changes, but fortunately, they're legit, and the V2 is clearly superior in every possible way.
-
Looking forward to hearing the sound of the board. In the other tread it was said "FM says its quieter, you can barely tell theres a motor. This is true in certain aspects. When the plus is moving, its quieter. Not quiet. But when the board is at a stand still, its noisier than the V1! Sound like air in a tunnel. Its weird. But overall, I really do like the sounds change. It sounds like space saucer."
-
I'd like to hear a review from someone who owns a V1 that hasn't yet forked out $1500 for a plus...a truly unbiased opinion from someone not justifying an expensive purchase they've waited 2 months to receive.
-
@CBR-954rr in other words, you want a review from someone whose bias will be to justify not spending the money for the +!
The only "unbiased, honest" review would come from a person who has owned neither version and is allowed to ride both.
-
I have both the + (coming next week) and V1. The reason why I wanted two was to ride with family and also to be able to ride without waiting for the battery charge. With two OWs you can ride one while the other charges and repeat, pretty much all day.
-
@CBR-954rr Thats is me... I am not sure I will buy the plus. I've had two V1's for two years now. I'll let you know my thoughts... Riding my friends Plus hopefully later today.

I will be pretty busy today. If i find sometime, I will try to film the space saucer noise.

I'm not sure that's true, it would be hard to compare the two without mastering v1.

I guess everyone on here has seen this video?
If not... enjoy.

Someone needs to ride this boss of a board in extreme or elevated mode pronto.
-

@e-ball Not a bad point but honestly someone who had never rode any Onewheel before wouldn't be someone who could give that good of review of the differences. Even if they could ride ok, you really need to have experence to form a real thorough opinion of the changes. That's my opinion for what its worth.
-
@CBR-954rr Understandable, but it is 50% more powerful, the footpads are at an angled to more closely match the angle of your legs when standing, and the sensor covers 100% of the front pad rather than two medium sized spots, I think the 3 major upgrades are objectively superior to the V1 and free of bias, but we'll see as more people chime in.
@MichaelW That's a good point, the only difference a new rider would notice is the footpads are more comfortable, the 50% boost in power isn't noticeable unless you're skilled enough to ride somewhat-aggressively, a noob cruising at 7.8MPH won't know which one is better.
-
I feel like there are two questions here. One, is it better? I think we can all agree it probably is on some level... but how much? The second question I think is important is... is it worth selling your V1 to buy the Plus? For some people the hassle of selling and shelling out the extra money for the new board could be more difficult if they don't have the income. Also, remember the Plus is more expensive now. You can get a nice new OneWheel V1 for about 950 bucks or new for 1300 or less. So yeah.... If the extra money is not an issue and you don't have a V1 already just get the V2. If on the other hand you can't justify it being all that much better just get a v1 used or new.
Also, the V1 is no wait. You can be riding it tomorrow verses if you want the Plus (and don't have another board) you could be waiting a month or longer and most of us are impatient. @No

-
You can find it for less if you look around. In many cases free shipping and no tax. For instance on Ebay right now for 1249. @enjoi408
-
Really, I just want confirmation that it was worth $200 more plus being boardless for two months and counting after getting a refund on my broken V1 at the beginning of the year.

I think he's just just saying the plus is $200+ more expensive then the V1...

@Earthpilot keep in mind if you wanna make the footpads fit, you'll have to make the bumpers fit too, the footpads are longer and rounded on the front, and the bottom of the footpads have a slight bevel that fits the new bumpers

So use +footpads and +bumpers?
-
So if the + has the same frame, this would work unless new holes have to be drilled to accommodate the + bumpers and pads. I'm hoping the + hub assembly plugs right in. No, you have both right? When you change out your Vega on the plus, could you try plugging it into your V1 to see if it works. Of course I would look at the connections first.

OK Guys I uploaded the OW Buddy app with my ride. As you can see pretty happy about how far I went. Went 7.6 miles on my usual run around my house. (Lights were off)
Weather about 75 degrees
Tire pressure... I changed it to 20PSI it came at 24PSI
Pretty flat and paved roads in my area
I didn't really push it much
The OneWheel buddy app is off on the % of battery left. It had me at 1% and I went about another 1.5 miles so keep that in mind.
Pushback.....After riding it I can comment a bit more. Regarding pushback. For me personally I hit pushback pretty consistently at about 16.2.... So Plus vs Original 13 vs 16.2.... I know it's only 3.2mph but it's a pretty big difference to cruise around at 14-16 all the time without pushback as opposed to 13.0... SO big win for the Plus. I tend to not go real fast. I hit 19.2 I think and it was fast but it felt similar to 16-17 on the Original. But as I said before to be able to cruise around at 14-16 with absolutely ZERO pushback is huge for me. Perfect speed.
SUPER Quiet..... I am not sure who said it seemed the same noise wise but nothing like the Original one. The original one whines all the time when I accelerate and anything above about 11-12 for me and actually all of our boards. By the time you hit 14 it's pretty noisy. I really heard very little and that's what's a bit weird about the PLUS is the original sorta warns you with that noise you are close to maybe causing it to shut down. Nothing with this one regarding noise.
Super smooth like I said in the first post. Acceleration is smooth, quick, and responsive, and braking is very nice. As far as regeneration going down hill it didn't register much but I am assuming the APP's aren't really reading the info correctly.
The Foot Deck's are really nice. Like I said previously just solid and you feel attached to the board so much more. The wobbles that sometimes I have gotten with the Original just isn't there. I thought the tire must have been bigger but it's the same size. The Foot Deck's are just beefy and the slope of them allows the foot to stay grounded much better when cornering aggressive. Love the new Foot Deck.
It will be interesting to see how the stats measure up when the app gets released. As far as mileage for me goes. My Original would go about 7-8 miles on a charge. This particular ride the last time I did it the original went almost exactly the same. So for me it's huge to have the same miles as the original with 250 more Watts and all the improvements they have made. I actually was pretty sure I would lose my range a bit with it beefed up. So I am even more impressed after this long ride.
For newbie's the PLUS seems easier to adapt too than the original. My wife hasn't ridden a bunch and got right on this and said it felt much more stable and she felt more control.
Last but not least. I just charged and clocked it from plug in to 100% and I was literally at ZERO. I ran it all the way out. Time was...........36 minutes and 16 seconds. Not bad about what I was used to with the Original. Never gotten the 20 minute FM promise charge. Always 35-40 minutes when I ran it completely out.!!!!!
! -
@sonny123 agreed, that is what I am looking forward to. That and it not crashing for no reason like i took the other day... #shoulder in a sling... oh the pain:(.

How do you disengage the footpad?

I went out for a ride tonight and it's definitely a bit different. You have to swing your toes farther or do the heel dismount. I opted for the toe move and am still finding my balance since it has to be more extreme than the V1.

Ok guys.... What I think we have all been waiting for here... OneWheel verses OneWheel plus side by side comparison video. Hope this helps clarify things. Overall the board is about 20% better I think. Like going from driving a car in a regular model vs the sport turbo model. Also, one of my favorite changes was the valve stem that sticks out. Much easier to get to. Video below... Enjoy! @groovyruvy @No @thegreck @OriginalEric @njcustom
-
@MichaelW @groovyruvy ... guys guys guys!! Best review to date. Amazing. Wish I was there with you to experience for myself.. looks like I'll need to pull the pin once available in UK.. hope you're both keeping well
-
The pros are: Quieter (nearly silent), smoother by 20%, couldn't even get to pushback, faster by 15%, more climbing power 20% upgrade, new easy valve stem, slightly better looking.
Cons for me are: Battery difference. Mark and I both followed the same course exactly and had the same tire pressure as well. First, the plus motor seems to use about 3%-7% more battery we found (More tests needed to be super accurate on this). I also feel like the pads are not as good for beginners. Its definitely a more difficult dismount. Yet easier for beginners to get on i suppose. Also, its more expensive. Lastly, I felt it was slightly more stiff (maybe its just new) then my V1 when carving. Not sure why that would be but its only slight and I'm sure I'll get used to it over time. Mark didn't really notice a difference in the carving.
-
@MichaelW : Thanks a lot - now that is really the perfect review!
No more questions everything else one has to feel for himself I think... -
@MichaelW More stiff when carving? I'd want the opposite, indeed!
-
@SaturnOne : clear case for the hoosier-tire;-)
-
Ccheeseman @MichaelW 3 March 2017, 15:13 UTC
@MichaelW
Seems some consistency in design vs ride- bigger motor, smoother acceleration trades off a bit worse battery life
- bigger axle likely stiffens the wheel and may reduce carvi-ness but makes the rider feel smoother going straight
-
I'd give it a few days to break in. When I picked up a new tire for my V1, it felt super stiff for a bit. I'm hoping the same break in period applies to the plus as well.
-
@MichaelW Great review! Thanks...
-
The stiffness could be due to it being a fresh tire, I started swapping my tire yesterday after only riding about 2 miles on the V2, the tire was incredibly rigid compared to the Vega tire from my V1 that had about 600 miles on it, it was like comparing a paper towel to a sheet of cardboard.
-
Aaris @MichaelW 3 March 2017, 19:24 UTC
@MichaelW Are you two the same weight per your battery comparison? Does one of you carve more?
-
One positive, yet unexpected, plus is that I can ride goofy much better on the Plus.
-
@aris No we switched places and rode the same line the whole time. When he carved I carved then we switched boards every so often. I don't think I can be sure of this though... Really someone who has both needs to take the same ride twice with very little variation and see if there is a difference.
-
From MichealWs video, I see a difference in the boards. If the + bumpers and pads are mated to a V!, the angle of the V1 frame is going to make the bumpers angle higher and the pads may have a small gap to contend with. Do you guys see the difference on the side by side comparison?
-
@MichaelW awesome--thanks sir!
-
@aris Honestly I can't be 100% sure (as more tests are needed) but it makes sense that more power and more acceleration would likely mean using up a bit more battery... no?
