@No said in Tire change turn around shipping 1 day:
One of the many reasons my warranty was voided was because they knew I changed my own tire... be careful!
Your tire wore out before a year was up?
-
@T-CAT
It'll probably have to be approved by support first.

That's what I'm thinking too and maybe some written documentation stating that's okay just to be on the safe side of things.

oh, no, I put the Hoosier on, then about 48 miles later I had to send it in for repairs, so the tire change was pretty obvious in my case
-
@sonny123 ah yea...I didn't even think of the shipping time...
Edit: I live about 50 min from the factory
-
I just sent mine in for a tech issue, they fixed and returned took about 3 weeks minus shipping

Do you have to use the shipping option, 99.00 tire change + shipping 150.00,
seems a little steep. -

My first tire wore out at 1060 miles , I'm on my third tire and I've owned it for 7 months. Changed both myself. I won't send my board in unless I start speaking in tongues or it catches on fire...

@T-CAT After FM changed my tire, the board came back with a wobble. Feels like it's unbalanced but I cannot detect any damage visually that might cause the problem. I asked that FM check it out while it was in for another issue (complete shutdown while riding), but the board came back the same. Has anyone else had this issue?

@dcosmos
That's definitely not reassuring because at that point what happens? You would likely have to send it back (hopefully not on your dime), wait some more for a repair to be made, and be without your board as well as the inconvenience of multiple shipping occurrences back and forth.

@T-CAT It really sucks that I have two boards and I can't use either right now. One's in for a full refresh and LED fix, the other is home with me, now chronically ill. It's been sent in twice already and now it's looking like a third trip is necessary. It's still under warranty, but FM wants to assess the situation with Settings screenshots and try "fixing remotely" first. Feels like I'm juggling OWs with maintenance and repairs.

Try deflating the tire to about half and grab your board by one side and pound the tire on the ground a couple times and then turn the tire a little bit and keep repeating the process. This might, (I say might) take your wobble out because you may re seat the tire bead as a result.

@Earthpilot Thanks for the idea! I'll try it. Hopefully the board will turn on so I can test ride it.
-
@dcosmos You're welcome. Sorry to hear you are not riding at the moment. I think I would be walking around aimlessly and disgruntled without mine.

@Earthpilot Did you have a professional change the tire or did you do it?
-
@tony420121 I bought tire spoons off of Amazon for $11.00 and did it myself. The one thing I am going to get is this for breaking the bead off the rim. The two I did, I pushed by hand and let me tell you, triceps workout, lol

@Earthpilot
Same price, cheaper shipping: http://www.harborfreight.com/manual-tire-changer-62317.html
-
Won't work, you need the harbor freight bead breaker.
-
-
Actually, any of these will work
I have a Harbor Freight close to my house so I may get that one. -
@Earthpilot I believe the manual tire changer needs a needs a hole in the rim for the shaft to secure the rim. At least I think it's been 10+ years since I've seen it, guess you could always just use the breaker part only..😀
-
@Earthpilot did you try folding the tire and pulling it over the rim instead of using the spoons? I haven't tried it..

@parrothd Nice find! I saw this video and it looks like one would just need to track down the cool custom tools to do it yourself. Like this bead breaker or the harbor freight version
-
@parrothd Folding the tire will not work.the bead of the tire needs to be pushed towards the inner part of the tire for it to come off the wider area of the rim. i'll find a video.
Here is a video of a guy getting a pretty soft tire off of a rim. Our Vegas require a little more muscle but I have done it.
