Since I've been riding a lot, I can see these and establish that some of these things are impressive feats. But honestly, they don't look impressive.
Thanks for the honest review @ZeeMox! I for one back you on this statement... I'm sure some of the fluid riding in these videos is impressive (technically), given the board itself, and perhaps certainly for electric skateboards in general, but not as a complete standalone when surrounded by all the amazing (and impressive visually) feats people pull off in so many other sports... snowboarding, trials biking, BMX, skateboarding, just to name a few. From what I've seen online, no one but OneWheel owners would be sharing a "sick compilation" video of OneWheel tricks - the rest of the world would scratch their head and think... "that's it?"
That said, I'm still stoked to get my two + boards in a few weeks and try this thing out. My expectations are low from the shred dept. but it seems like a fun casual thing to play around on for sure!

@ZeeMox Someone's simple solution for walking the board home:

If you want to carve at high speed and live dangerously, try the Evolve Carbon GT. I have never crashed harder in my life :-) -

@ZeeMox I purchased the same amazon battery as yours (thanks for sharing the link), now I am just waiting for my + (should be here mid next week). How long does it take to recharge the battery of the one wheel + when you are using the solar generator unit ? Also, did you try to hook a solar panel to recharge that unit ? Any idea how long it would take ? Trying to see if I can get a fully transportable foldable solar panel with me and generate enough power to be totally independent from outlets... but I am probably dreaming...

@timvdp lol. I like the brevity of your comment :) still, @Zeemox, if you can tell me how long it takes you to recharge the onewheel from the portable unit that would be cool, wondering if I should have this in my backpack all the time or just have it in the car on the parking lot near the trails.

The + charges just as quickly through the unit as when it's plugged into the wall as far as I can tell. Charge time varies so it's hard to be positive. Using a solar panel to charge the battery is not something I've tried, but it would probably take a very long time. From absolute zero, battery drained until the built in flashlight won't turn on, it takes about 7 hours to recharge the AMSU battery pack when plugging it into a wall outlet. So you can get 2+ charges, but when you're out, you're out for the day.

just keep it in your backpack otherwise you'll still be walking to your car ;)
but it works great and same speed as the normal charger so enjoy! when the board arrives!!:):) -
@timvdp
Managed to to fill up from 25% to 90% from a 2 X 14.8V lipo 3300 mah battery in 30 minutes,
and still had some more lemon juice in the lipo to boot.
Just stopped at the recommended 3.7 per cell.
Perhaps the lightest mobile setup. -
@sonny123 like it. With my limited electrical abilities I'd probably blow the board up.

@groovyruvy
Lipo batteries are pretty safe but you just need to be careful with them.
Very simple to use.Something like this should get you over 1 charge.
Lipo charger run very cheap.

If you go the LiPo route, please take note of the (pvc?) cylinder @sonny123 is holding the batteries in. That is vital! The kind of crash and roll you'd do off a OW could definitely damage a soft case LiPo and fill your bag with thousand degree smoke.
-
@magicrobots
I'd be more concerned about cracking some bones than that lipo going up in flames.
Newer battery are pretty safe.
Most lipo fires were caused by pumping more juice than they can take.
The newer ones can take 3-4 times its C rate.Nevertheless, it's always a good idea to handle with care.
Like when charging, place it in a contained place in case of fire, it doesn't spread.
As for carrying them.Lipo bags work well.
-
Do what you want but I've ruptured very modern well made soft case LiPos in RC trucks after hard impacts and something crushing the battery too hard on impact. Better safe than sorry; LiPo rupture reaction is hot enough to melt plastic even if it's in a lipo bag, and the amount of smoke that comes out would wreck anything in your backpack as well as your backpack. In my experience, soft case LiPos need a hard case.

@sonny123 geez looks like a pipe bomb lol
I'm sure you'd look just fine huddled in a corner charging up haha

@braswell
Never thought of that.
You're right. lol... -

"the design prevents it from ascending to the realm of "extreme sport" as anyone who achieved something truly "extreme" on a Onewheel would probably noseplant at the end of said maneuver. Unless there is some crazy awesome video I haven't seen; Feel free to link it."

https://youtu.be/OPJ9gOpfvBwI agree with you on this and I really like what you are doing on the board. Raequel on the logs in Bend, i love it. I'll post this again because I am trying to comprehend half of the posts here. Before I do, first person who can pull a 720 on a half pipe on a Onewheel will get a cookie from me shipped to their house. Come on...
