@callenj357 I will for sure. The size is what got me, easy to carry.. But that could be a bad thing if the weather isn't right.. It's not coming til February :/ I'm used to waiting by now tho

@njcustom that looks sick. I got to see that shit when it comes. Hopefully its not freezing in Feb
-
@killerClownShoes I wonder what people are going to think seeing a Onewheel and mini drone flying down the street hahaha

Doesn't this go against your "chinese products are sh*t" policy? ;)
Price point is nice and the tiny size is pretty awesome. hope they'll actually deliver what they promise... wasn't airdog supposed to be out by now?
-
@tomtnt lol yeah a little bit.. But its cheap enough.. Chinese make some cool stuff but they never make quality :/

@njcustom this is so flipping kewl!!! Can't wait to see what your drone sees!

@njcustom Fuck I'm gonna have to buy this! Which one did you get?
-
@ashewheeler I got the first package for 179$ for the first 200 people.. But the 189$ package is the same..

hmmm I'm a little skeptical on this one... As a avid drone flyer, the price / promise seems all too good, even the footage doesn't seem to really match up (I'm an editor). I have the phantom 3 professional right now (1300) and It looks like they just spliced in footage from that cam.
I'd definitely be interested in picking one of these up once its released and all is said in done, I hope its as awesome as the video demonstrates but damn even their release to market date seems like a stretch.
-
@braswell I'm buying a phantom 3 next.. I have the 2 but its getting old.. But for 179$ I figured why not.. They have another video on YouTube that shows a few actual video clips.. Looks good to me.. They claim the camera is as good as the iPhone 6 camera.. 1080p 30fps is basically a gopro.. That's enough i think

@braswell what is your thoughts on airdog? i have not seen a lot of videos yet from non airdog.com sources on youtube. all of the videos they put up seem awesome. want to see more from people who purchase airdog before i make the jump.

@callenj357 check out the "lily" its totally water proof.. It will take off out of water too.. Pretty cool
-
@njcustom thanks nj will check it out. this one is also interesting and not too expensive:

@callenj357 airdog looks great, again that price point seems more realistic. It looks like it would handle wind gust with no issue.
This $200 mini drone just seems crazy, I honestly hope it's legit just for the sake of technology being that awesome and affordable already :)

@njcustom It's bound to get messy in Jersey when people's minds start blowing as they watch you hover by on your Onewheel with your nano drone hovering obediently behind. That might be a little too much awesomeness for the human brain to cope with.
-
@braswell i paid 179$ after the 40% discount.. I have a mini quadcopter the same size for 50$ and it does really well outside but doesn't have a camera.. It weighs nothing either.. The one I just posted has some weight so it should be good in mild wind.. But If its no good then I'll resell it..

@njcustom Looks pretty good! Very similar to the Lily Camera. My Lily arrives in February!
-
@X80-CBR I was just telling someone about the lily.. I wanna see it bad

Sscalthom 10 December 2015, 18:52 UTC
I pre-purchased a lily and am starting to get worried that it is a bit of a scam... Almost like the failed "Zano" drone on Kickstarter. Granted, they have been sending updates, but the updates lack the "meat and potatoes" for a product that is supposed to be released in two months. The few videos released of it right after their promotional video went viral showed the drone still had a lot of work to be done on it.... And there hasn't really been anything released showing any improvements. I was thinking about canceling my order, and asking for a refund, but since lily is supposed to be at CES I decided to wait. It is bothersome, however, to go on a few drone forums and to see that people that have asked for refunds on it have not gotten a response.
As for other potential drones, has anyone checked out the Snap by vantage robotics? This things seems ligit.... 4K, guarded props, more of a durable design, and slots for potential expansion (collision avoidance). Supposedly it's going to be released in the spring. -
Ttomtnt @scalthom 10 December 2015, 19:55 UTC
@scalthom have ANY crow-funding drone turned out to be successful?? all these wannabe drones are full of promises and cool features but have yet to deliver.
even 3DR is having a hard time competing with DJI
-
Bbraswell @tomtnt 11 December 2015, 00:54 UTC
@tomtnt yeah I agree, its a tough market to deliver in. Autonomous is just too finicky at the moment, even the phantom 3 JUST got some "new" features like follow me etc that has its faults. A drone that relies 100% on that is just asking for problems.
Its exciting to see so many new companies taking a stab at it though, Im confident within the next year or two we'll have some serious contenders.
One other thing to look out for is replaceable batteries, LILLY and a few others have batteries built in and unfortunately aren't up to the caliber as our Onewheels battery :) You definitely want something you can pop in a new battery at any given moment.

Just found out this little quadcopter will have a virtual reality app.. But you will need the 30$ goggles.. Its gonna be crazy flying in VR
