The waiting game
-
J
Ordered my OneWheel in March, got an e mail notification that it was "in production" in mid April. Sent an e mail in early May asking status and they reply to wait three weeks. Sent an e mail in early June, and they send a reply that it will ship the week of June 15th. Sent an e mail on June 22 and they say it'll ship at the end of the month. Very frustrating process so far.
-
L
Had exactly the same problem...did u paid it already??
For me they took my money mid april until now nothing shipping... -
I know it's frustrating. I had to wait from the end of the Kickstarter in February 2014 until November 2014 - excruciatingly long wait. I also know it makes it worse when they give you a date and then exceed that date.
For whatever little consolation it may be - it will be worth the wait in the end. You will receive a rock solid product that FM meticulously perfected over the last several years. Hang in there (I have 3 friends waiting on boards). I'm sure FM is working as hard as they can to get the boards out quickly while maintaining the top-notch quality they demand. In the long run, I'm glad they place quality well above expediency.
-
I also had the same experience. I sent some pretty frustrated emails after I had been promised 8 weeks, and I was on my 10th. I actually had to stop looking up OW stuff online because I was getting so impatient. It felt like everyone had their board but me. Once I got the notification it had been shipped, it was on my doorstep the next day. I'm so glad I don't have to go through that initial waiting period ever again. I am so exceptionally excited to finally have my board!
I have to say though, I have a concern about ever sending my board in for repairs. I would hope that the repair process is much faster than making it. I guess I'll just wait for any repairs until winter so I wont miss it as much, or I could just order a second board. Hmmm....
Be patient my friend, it will be on your doorstep soon enough. When it does arrive, you will be spending every extra minute of your days and nights riding. Half the fun is hearing all the ooooo's and ahhh's from people. I'm so addicted to riding that I have a hard time going to bed at night. Seriously!!! -
Here the same story, although I'm not waiting that long yet... My girlfriend wanted to give the Onewheel as a present for my 30d birthday, beginning of June. She was a bit late ordering, and it was supposed to ship this week or next week. The people of FM were so kind to send a little note for my girlfriend to give me on my birthday, not to show up empty handed.
So yesterday we checked, and shipping has been delayed for at least a month! This waiting game is indeed very frustrating!
I hope summer here in Belgium will not be over by the time my Onewheel arrives... -
L
Hi Polle,
I m from belgium too, fortunately the onewheel is waterproof...:-)
-
@jeremyschow how long did you wait it? 9, 10 weeks? I ordered mine 7 weeks ago, and I can't wait to get it
-
I got mine in about 11 weeks. It's hard to wait but it's totally worth it. I wish they would change the advertised time to 8-12 weeks. Would be much more reliable.
-
whats the hardware for you guys that recently got them?
Anyway, my hardware shows 100.
whats setting do you guys ride on mostly? :neckbeard:
Dont hate but i got mine luckily withing a few days or discovering OW used with minor scratches but like new...
-
@riofiume Yes, it was about 10 weeks. I'm so glad I don't have to go through that waiting game again!
-
B
Hi @polle, @laurentdiving,
Also from Belgium. I would looove to give the onewheel a try before buying.
If you're up for that, let me know. I'm based in Mechelen.
Cheers.
-
J
Ordered mine in March paying $500. It went "in production" about April 13th and the collected the rest of the money saying I would get shipping notification "in a few weeks." Promised a very specific "week of June 15th" that passed, recently again promised "end of June" that passed. You can't tell me that people ordering since mid March have not gotten their product. When they've got your money and they aren't true to their word it is very hard to be a happy or understanding customer.
-
Wait, you ordered in March and still didn't get it? Really hope they are producing faster now...
-
@JWhite It's the same for everyone that ordered when you did. I experienced the same thing, and I also felt like everyone had their board but me. I sent some not so nice emails since I was so frustrated. I look back now and laugh at how frustrated I got. You will have your board soon even though it feels like forever, and it will be worth it.
-
L
Hi @bertvh ,
I am also a Belgian 'waiter', I ordered a OW end of May, I was hoping to be riding end of August. After reading this thread, I'd better start taking some Zen courses. ;-)
I work in Mechelen some days in the week, so you might give it a bit of a try.
But take care, if you order only then, you will have to wait while already being addicted...
-

How do you belgian or European guys took care for the customs taxes for a good outside from Europe ? Any idea on the added cost ? Thanks
-

I have the same question. I'm from Croatia and my OW is about to come, I expect customs and taxes to be around $450-500. Hope it'll worth it -.-
Maybe someone from EU knows the exact cost? -
M
Hi everyone, I ordered mine on April 2 and got an email notice on July 7 that it had shipped (with expected delivery by UPS to Texas scheduled for July 13). So, from order to delivery, it will have taken just under 15 weeks.
-
@misdirects Yikes!!!
-
@misdirects Wow... You will love it though... Enjoy :)

Today marks the end of week 11 on my order
Even though he new estimated time is 4-6 weeks ...I am very anxious to get that tracking and delivery -
Anyone else waiting or had waited just as long?
Fingers crossed I get good word this week
-
NNYC 3 August 2015, 20:01 UTC
11 weeks??? Are you in the U.S.?
-
@NYC
Yeah Tx -
Have been in contact with FM since week 8 .. Still waiting on it to be shipped -
NNYC @joshuadmay 3 August 2015, 21:09 UTC
@joshuadmay wow that's incredibly disheartening. hope you get yours soon. same goes for the rest of you.
-
Lliekensk 5 August 2015, 06:06 UTC
Oh yeah,
it's been shipped, another OW on its way to Belgium. This is where the waiting really kicks in...
;-)
@Polle @laurentdiving: How long did OW stay at customs? What was its total travel time?
-
After 11+ week wait
My tracking number finally came -
Big props to OneWheel and Future motion for the apology - of a long wait . Stoked to get this board in a few days 👍 -
Llaurentdiving 5 August 2015, 06:18 UTC
@liekensk
For myself it was really fast, shipped on monday and got it on friday.
enjoy your ridessss -
@liekensk Also for me, was very surprised that it was in more or less 1 week at my front door...
I also had a waiting game just now! Was on a business trip, and didn't ride for 4 days, so tonight I'll be happy again! :satisfied: -
NNYC 5 August 2015, 13:15 UTC
Officially at 4 weeks today. So this should be a good test of the new 4-6 week timeline. I'll keep y'all posted.
-
NNYC 11 August 2015, 15:14 UTC
Talked to OW support and they expect that I should get a notification on shipping toward end of August. I'm currently sitting at 4.5 weeks and just curbed ankle surgery so I can enjoy the OW a couple weeks before I have to hang it up for 4 months of rehab after surgery.
-
@NYC That's rough. You may almost be better off not riding it until after your surgery or it will make you come back to it too soon. I couldn't imagine staring at my board for 4 months!!!
Good luck to you...
-
@NYC sorry to hear about the surgery. You might even consider selling the board to another forum member and placing a new order right before surgery, this way a board doesn't have to sit unused for that time, and you'll have your brand new board for production. Your call, of course!
-
NNYC 11 August 2015, 18:21 UTC
I considered selling it on here actually, but I have a 4 day weekend for labor day in an area where it would be highly desirable to have a OW. My ulterior motive is to get one of my friends to buy it right before I jump into surgery then order another one. Either way sooner the better.
-
Keep it when it arrives. I guarantee it expedites your healing
--⚫️-- -
Bbaybyboomer 11 August 2015, 21:42 UTC
Good for you, NYC. Sounds like we should get ours around the same time (per my correspondence with FM), but I ordered mine about nine weeks ago =\
-
Hey everyone. Finland here. I ordered mine June 29th, so about 7 weeks and 3 days ago. 1.5 weeks ago I got a reply from FM that my board is entering their fullfillment center (whatever that means??) in the next few weeks (I estimate / hope within 2 weeks) and then it would be shipped to Finland shortly ( 2-3 days, perhaps).
Future Motion said that I can expect to receive shipping confirmation and tracking around mid August and possibly sooner.
So here I am.. expecting and expecting like so many of you peers have before me. :)
It ain't easy..Best wishes,
Antti - Helsinki/Finland. -
@akoskinen I'm actually in Helsinki now, but left my OW in the states. Everywhere I go in this city I fantasize about how amazing it would be to ride here. Perfect weather and tons of wide sidewalks and bike lanes.
You will have the whole city to yourself!!!
-
@akoskinen Spend your free time wisely now, because soon there will be only 1 thing you think about all day
-
@Polle said:

seriously. We order donuts for the our staff and I have started to go pick them up at the store as an excuse to go out and ride during the day. Nothing else matters as much anymore.
-
I walk past my hot rods, motorcycle and fat tire bikes and grab my OW everyday.

I just hit 5 weeks. I reached out and they said I should be getting a confirmation email and tracking before the end of the month. I'm dying over here....
-
Guys welcome to the onewheel owners club. Think of this as part of your initiation. All of us have went through it but thankfully the
hazingwait time keeps inching down. The initial backers waited close to or more than a year. I ordered in April and waited 11 weeks.Part of your
hazinginitiation is being repeatedly told your order will ship when it actually won't. And one day after many sleepless nights you will get tracking. When that day arrives you will officially be a member and welcomed into the ranks of this elite group of onewheel owners. -
D
@larghi87 me too, I ordered July 1
-
Where can you see the current expected time before ordering?
-
Just ordered! :) can't wait!
-
@eish - on the order page you can see the estimated time
As many will say - you either get it when they say or you will get it a few weeks after the estimated time
Best bet is to start emailing support as your 4-6week comes to an end..
But it will come one day and you will be stoked to own one -
I ordered July 31st, and FM mentioned "you can expect to be riding by the beginning of September," so presumably 4-5 weeks if the current lead time on delivery.
-
I have to chime in because I think OW support is about the best I have ever dealt with. As an owner of 3 boards, I firmly believe that phone calls and emails do not expedite the shipping process. Simply stated, you will get it as soon as they can get it to you, unfortunately that is usually a little longer than anticipated. The quality and precision of OW, in retrospect, make it more than worth the wait. I believe it is a bargain for what it accomplishes.

eBay posting one for sale..
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151783629898&globalID=EBAY-US
The sellers Facts aren't as straight forward as they should be with his/her OW
But waiting the full term is far cheaper than buying this one that's for sure

Dude hasn't marked it up nearly enough. Slap a PhunkeeDuck sticker on it and mark it up 400% - that's how it's done.
-
Why lie about the price? Anyone looking to buy this product knows what the full price is. Many might be willing to pay extra to get right away but lying about the price will make people uneasy about bidding if anything.
-
I paid March 6th.. I was told 4-6 weeks.. I pray its not 8 weeks

Mmikeyjihad @baybyboomer 4 September 2015, 15:15 UTC
@baybyboomer, were you given any insight as to why orders placed after yours were fulfilled first?
-
@mikeyjihad, I'm guessing not. Most likely it's a combination of who you are, who you know, and who squeaks the loudest. Not proud of it, but I did my best to be a squeaky wheel. In hindsight I was probably very annoying but in my defense, I was totally obsessed with getting to ride it.
-
Mmrbonus 5 September 2015, 17:08 UTC
I placed my order on July 14th and received a shipping notification Thursday so it took just over six weeks.
-
JJWhite 7 September 2015, 18:11 UTC
Ordered my second OneWheel on July 14th and it showed up on August 29th .... great going out on night rides with my son after we are through in the shop!
-
TThatGuy 7 September 2015, 18:17 UTC
That's two in a row with ~6.5 weeks from order to shipping. The jury is still out as to whether lead times are actually dropping substantially or whether there are weeks of lead time variability based upon exactly when in the production cycle you order. Nevertheless, I'm hopeful...
-
Board gets here tomorrow morning. Anticipation is killing meeee

Ordered August 6th.. Today is September 18th.. I'm getting anxious
-
Ordered on Aug.16th.. i don't remember being this excited about something i purchased in a long time.. eagerly and patiently waiting for my ship notice.. will report back when i receive the notice.
-
Hmmm... seeing this:
http://www.westerncanoekayak.com/shop/onewheel/
Suddenly I don't feel so bad paying $300 for shipping + $300-400 in taxes. -
I ordered august 6th, today they told me 3-4 weeks more.. Roughly 10 weeks in total..
-
TThatGuy 23 September 2015, 03:32 UTC
So much for the advertised faster delivery times.
I wonder how many of us got screwed by the later orders that accidentally got filled first and whether that's why our lead times are long again.
-
Got my shipping notice… for my fender, replacement foot pads and t-shirt :disappointed: This is torture!
-
BBrutha Man @njcustom 29 September 2015, 14:55 UTC
@njcustom let us know when you get your board
-
@Brutha-Man
I will for sure.. I bet its going to be 10 weeks to my door.. We will see ..
-
Jjacksllvn0 30 September 2015, 04:31 UTC
it said 4-6 weeks for me, then again on the forums most people get it around 10 weeks so... any help?
-
@jacksllvn0...I would plan on waiting 10 weeks and then you might be pleasantly surprised by an early arrival...that seems to be the max. My 2nd board is currently at 6 1/2 weeks. Will update on arrival. As others have stated they may be working out some new kinks which seems odd considering the earliest batches that some of us have don't seem to be having any problems. A completely trustable board is priceless compared to a few days/weeks of waiting I think.
-
Jjacksllvn0 @SC720 30 September 2015, 04:54 UTC
@SC720 I need it in my life NOW, just thinking of what i could do with it and NOT having it yet is unbearable!
-
Jjacksllvn0 @jacksllvn0 30 September 2015, 04:56 UTC
@jacksllvn0 Its easy for you to say when you already have one XD
-
@jacksllvn0 very true but once it arrives this waiting period will be a blur and you wont look back.
-
I had mine for 2 weeks and then had to send it back for service... am out of the game for at least 2 weeks while it is shipped/repaired/shipped back. :sob:
But I'm telling you guys, IT IS SO WORTH THE WAIT! I was/am in love. Can't wait to be back in the game. We are so blessed!
-
I bet anything they have a ton of them just waiting to ship.. They don't ship them as they are built unfortunately..
-
Kkelp 30 September 2015, 21:38 UTC
I ordered mine last night. Can't wait for its arrival. I just hope it gets here before the second week of December. I've seen some people saying they are or have bought two. Is this for someone else in your household, or a friend? I am curious why someone would need two haha. So excited to join the community!!
-
@kelp I have ordered two ow . one for me and one for my girlfriend because it's always more fun to be two when riding .
-
Hey guys! New here. I just ordered mine earlier today. I don't know if I can wait 8-10 weeks for this.
-
CCode-ster 1 October 2015, 07:43 UTC
After reading about some of your wait times I'm glad I jumped on a used board. I saved myself ~$500 and only waited a week from payment. Considering the board only had a few dings and maybe 50 miles on it I feel like I came away with a steal. I've put more marks on the board than the original owner and I'll be putting a lot more miles on it too.
With that said, even if I had to wait 10 weeks for a brand new board I can attest to the fact that the wait would still be worth it. The Onewheel is so addictive! No one here is exaggerating about that. I'm constantly thinking about riding it and seizing every opportunity to do so. Even at the current price point, like many OW owners here, I'm already considering picking up a second board for back up because this is one of those things that, once you have it, you're not going to want to risk going a day without it.
For those waiting, I can only echo what so many are saying here, hang in there. Your lives are about to change.
-
TTechMSS 1 October 2015, 18:16 UTC
I just thought I'd jump in because I have experience that relates directly to the question of whether bugging support leads to expedited shipping. Long story short, being persistently polite (and a little pathetic) can sometimes pay off. :)
I had been emailing support before I got the board, asking about range, showing them an elevation chart of my commute and asking if the board could handle it (the engineers looked at it and relayed their message back to me!)... and then I asked nicely if there was any way they could expedite the process. Here is a verbatim transcript:
JULY 21:
Me:
"Hi - this is really hard to wait. I'm making due with poor substitutes like that mini Segway everyone's talking about, and also my Bionx. But I am showing friends the OneWheel video every day. Ship date still mid August?"
Them:
"Luckily you are getting close to your ship date! Your board is still on track to ship mid August and you should be riding by the end of that month. We are stoked you are prepping to ride and spreading the Onewheel love."
JULY 27
Me:
"Hi it's me again, I'm wondering if there's any way to expedite, or maybe to jump ahead and line – I am willing to ride around with a bunch of one wheel logos and be your Washington DC rep for a while if it means I can get my board a few weeks earlier :-)"
JULY 30
Them (11:36 AM):
"Thanks for checking in! I think we might be able to sneak you into our next shipment which will be around August 10th. I'll see what I can do and hopefully we can get you riding as soon as possible ;) Stoked you'll be on a board soon."
Me (2:01 PM):
"That would be amazing. I am super stoked and I thank you for anything you can do!"
Them (2:59 PM):
"Keep an eye out for your confirmation and tracking information starting early next week! :) "
JULY 31
Me: "To Carly and everyone else on the Onewheel Team -- You. Are. Awesome. I can't wait!!! Stoked to finally receive the Onewheel to rule them all..."
AUGUST 4
Me: "Hi! Do you think I will be receiving a confirmation and tracking number sometime soon? Thank you again :-) sorry to be so annoying."
AUGUST 5
Them: "Thanks for the kind words! We are pumped that your board is on its way - think you already received this but your tracking number is [###]. Hope you have a blast with your new board ;)"

BBrutha Man @TechMSS 1 October 2015, 20:04 UTC
@TechMSS how long did it end up taking?
-
TTechMSS 2 October 2015, 14:28 UTC
@Brutha-Man I ordered June 23, and was given a wait time of "about 8-10 weeks to ship." That would have put the ship date around Aug. 18 - Sept. 1.
It actually shipped on Aug. 4, which means it shipped in 6 weeks! It took one week to get from California to Washington, DC -- I got it on Aug. 11.
-
BBrutha Man @TechMSS 2 October 2015, 15:17 UTC
@TechMSS that's awesome. Ugh
I sent them an uber polite message saying the wait was tough. And they increased my wait time from late October to November. I was like commmmeee onnnn

@eish well I say 2 weeks because it takes UPS Ground 4 working days each way to transport the onewheel... I am hoping it only takes Julian a few days at most to fix the problem with the motor and ship it back. (we will see how that goes).

Hi One Wheel community! I just ordered TWO boards and I'm stoked! Ordered them exactly 1 week apart. I'm 2 weeks in since my first one. Wait time says 6-8 weeks. Any word from FM if we can get them faster? Thanks!
-
BBrutha Man @parkerpayne 18 October 2015, 21:42 UTC
@parkerpayne they most likely won't get it to you any faster. The general trend has been 8-10+ weeks. ask @njcustom @Yonkers So. Get comfy
-
@parkerpayne be prepared to wait atleast 10-12 weeks.. No less..
-
@parkerpayne I also ordered 2 weeks ago so we should be same batch ... It'll be interesting to see how this pans out and maybe helpful for others in the waiting game too. I'm in the UK so I'd expect to wait an extra week for shipping/customs
