    Got my plus in December
It was wet and icy and i couldn’t wait to get going
I literally got on the board and fell off

Apparently I broke my wrist which I didn’t find out for six weeks of misery

Also totally screwed up my ring finger (word to the wise never ever wear a wedding ring when you ride)

Anyway, as has been said on the forum a ton “respect the board and don’t get cocky”

I finally got some pads and a good helmet.... knee, elbow, wrist

Don’t be a dumbass get some protection

Recent XR owner, have only put 11 miles on so far. Single father, with chores and work etc. Rather big guy maybe 260. POC Crane commuter helmet, triple 8 hired hands wrist guard/glove combo, gform knee/elbow pads, gform shorts. Been to the 16.4 mph range. Felt great. Still getting the hang for sure. Woke up muscles that have not been used in 30 years on skateboards. I'm 48 years old. Cheers.

I had mine for 3 days and went over the front. I learned later that I was leaning forward too much and I overpowered the motor. Anyway, broken collarbone. That was three months ago and I'm all healed up. I'm sure those shoulder pads help, but you can still compress the collarbone and break it if you land on that left shoulder. I wear a helmet now and that's it. I ride a lot and haven't fallen since the collarbone incident. Oh, I'm 64 and that was my first broken bone.

@goodblake-eskate Thanks. I'm having a great time. I love to out late at night when there are few cars, pedestrians or dogs and just cruise around lower downtown Denver along the Platte River and Cherry Creek. I really love my OneWheel.

@cliff Great place to ride down there! I used to live in that area! I bet Wash park would be a lot of fun too. My car essentially collects dust ever since I got my Onewheel

After five months and around 600 miles with no crashes riding 'Delirium' only in the street with average speed around 18mph, I've aborted wearing the elbow and knee pads. MIPS Giro helmet with the Serfas lights, and some Gore Windstopper cycling gloves only now.

@510-1-whl average speed of 18 for 600 miles? How does one do that?

I always wear a good helmet and wrist guards. For Onewheel safety gear, this article may be helpful... https://oneradwheel.com/onewheel-safety-gear-recommendations/

Best safety gear (knee / elbow pads and wrist guards) hands down, prodesigned.com, Wild Bill (owner) is awesome to deal with and cares about the products he's been producing since 1985!
