anybody know how hard it is to disassemble the pack? is it all glued together or can I actually remove cells?

I'm looking at spot welders now....

@Rado Thanks! I just ordered some of those awesomer cells to custom build my own pack:

@Rado I just finished opening up my XR battery pack for disassembly and it contains Samsung 30Q cells. FM or more likely their supplier in China is using different brands for different batches. The Samsungs are much cheaper than the VTC6 so it seems like a cost saving measure.

Some reading of anecdotes suggests these are known for better longevity overall vs. the VTC6 but not as good at holding up voltage, which might be contributing to my problems lately.

Going by mileage I’m somewhere between 100 and 200 charge cycles.

@readysetawesome Interesting, well the 30Qs are good cells. That’s what all the esk8ers use to build packs.

@Rado I see. That’s good. I plan to test and reuse them in new packs.

All Done! I managed to get my rebuilt NCR20700B pack to fit without any mods to the battery compartment. (Had to play battery tetris for about 2 hours before I finally found the right arrangement.) I put 5 miles on it yesterday, works great! still reading 61v after 5 miles, pretty impressive!

Testing of the old OEM battery pack cells, which I've now replaced, revealed a cell pair that is low-voltage so one or both of those are bad.

Support ticket closed! And now i have leftover these 28 Samsung 30Q cells with which I can build an extra general-purpose battery pack.

@readysetawesome Did you end up using the same amount of cells as the original?

I have improved this expanded design and plan to offer it for sale via ground shipment at some point this year. Latest iteration includes better insulation than my first prototype and I've improved cell spacing so NO modifications to the original battery compartment are required.

Would that battery pack work with an XR+ as well? I'm having range issues too.
