My XR is not performing to spec.   8 miles on flat ground from a full charge is pathetic.

This is a serious issue for a $2000 device. If you are saying there is no quality control, and the company won’t care, then I made a bad purchase and need to get the retailer/ credit card company involved.

@tsiangkun Since your board is still under warranty, either you or the dealer should be able to have Future Motion handle this.

I have a V1 and mine does that pulsing when I get to approx 30% battery. I personally think the battery just doesn't have enough nuts to push the board up hill at that point. I also personally think that the V1 and Plus don't have enough battery power from the factory.

I ordered the battery kit from two-x. I'm looking forward to seeing how much the power is improved along with the extended range.

This thread may have saved me - took a longer than average ride yesterday and got a single pulsation going uphill at ~15 mph heading back to the house.

I said, 'I know what that is.' and slowed the f##k down.

I don't keep my phone handy when riding, but got home and checked . . . yep, 35%.

@Kielanders you can also get a crude battery reading from the power light pulse.

One cycle of blue light is the charge... so if it looks to be blue for 75% of the time and off for 25% of the time for one cycle... that means you have 75% battery left.

It's crude but with time you can actually get pretty good at gaging remaining power. At least it gives you a ball park number on when to turn around.

If you don't like riding with your phone, there are some Android watches that can run a full copy of the FM OW App, no phone needed.

I like this idea if the screen is big enough for 57yr old eyes to see realtime speed and battery usage.

I'm in the process of adding a mini volt meter to my board. I've been into EV's for a number of years and voltage is what I've used to determine range. It's an instantaneous true indicator. Make no mistake, the Onewheel is an EV and like other EV's the range estimate is just that, an estimate. It's a calculation based on data about your ride up to that instant. A much more true number is actual voltage.

For instance if a full charge is 58v and the board turns off at 50v then every bit of data for range is there. At 54v I know I'm at half battery and I either have to turn around or start thinking about where I'm going to charge. At 50v I know I'm getting ready to CPT Morgan or worse yet nosedive if I continue lol. In the literature provided by two-x for their battery upgrade, checking voltage is stressed as the primary way of determining battery capacity since the app has inconsistent function after the battery upgrade. Once I get my volt meter installed I won't be using the app at all except to switch from extreme to elevated mode.

I ride with my Android phone running the OEM FM OW Android app and my Wear OS watch running the OEM FM OW Wear OS app that connects to the phone. I know of no watch that can run the FM Android app standalone, do you have a link to one?

I used to use the OneWheel Wear 3rd party app on my watch that would connect directly to the board, but FM changed the API and it broke all of the 3rd party apps.

@skyman88 I have the Ticwatch E . . . the FM OW app on the watch has to connect to the OW app on the phone, so still need to carry the phone. This is exactly what I'm doing . . . phone in my pocket running the OW app and watch on my wrist with the OW app connected to the phone. It is really nice, cuz it shows the battery percentage left and estimated miles left, but if I flip my wrist up, it shows my current and top speeds (for the current ride) as well as how far I've gone.

@skyman88 Yep, I bought that app, but back in Nov 2018 or so, FM changed the API and all of the 3rd party apps, OneWheelWear included, stopped working. The author tried to fix it, but it's still broken and he seems to have lost interested in making a final fix to work with the new API (I've pinged him several times, including again yesterday when this was brought up again). So, for now, I'm stuck using the OEM app from FM, which requires the phone app to be running to work.

FYI, I asked the OneWheelWear app developer to add a customizable speed limit notification and he did! I loved it, for the 6 months or so that it was working!
