We bought two Rad mini bikes from Radpowerbikes.com. She got the radmini step thru and I got the radmini. Plenty of power, plenty of range and a good bit of accessories on the website.

Just got back from a 6 mile trip downtown and back on the XR. It's so nice to not even have to think about range.

Temperature makes a big difference. On my +, I can get "maybe" 5 miles when the temp is below 60, but at 80 and over I can get over 7 miles sometimes.

It's pretty flat here in Sacramento, so someone else can tell you how much more you can get vs somewhere with a lot of hills.

I live in Northern VA. Small hills where I live. I don't notice much of a decrease in range because of the hills. Mostly because after I go up one I get to regen down on the other side of it so I get some electrons back. I wish I lived somewhere flat so I wouldn't have to deal with these hills. Case in point, I was at 100% charge and started my ride going down what I thought was just a very slight hill and the board shut off because it had too much of a charge. Luckily I was going slow.

My wife just got a Specialized Como, she loves it. now she actually wants to go ride the bike paths with me. It has way more range and speed than my XR and rides just like a normal (48#) bike when the battery is dead

Yeah, I'm just now debating whether I want my wife to get one - or sharing any of this with her.

I'm getting a lot of rich 70 y/o dames chatting me up when I skoot by our cruise ship dock . . . getting the wife out there might put a crimp in my 54 y/o player lifestyle.

@TyDie The terrain mostly pavement with no major grades. Did do a two mile off road dirt trail and 5 miles at the beach on wet sand, as well. Temps outside 85-92 Celsius.

Seriously though, I've done a bit of wet sand on the XR, it's fun but squirly and the side grade is odd. I assume the Pint is even more loose. Your thoughts on the Pint in wet sand?

You need to check it then, I rode my XR for a week at 'factory pressure', which was apparently 8 PSI.

In fairness to the factory, I got the last XR in my state, which was on the showroom floor for 4 months in a cold climate, before I made it mine.

FYI: there are stickers which don’t hold up in a court of law on the controller and battery that say warranty void if removed. FM modified their controller to no longer allow non FM apps to connect to the board. And when everyone started doing charge and ride (aka CnR), a resistor was added to the controller to prevent power from being accepted from the XLR while the board was moving... so yes, it can and has been done.

People are getting more creative now and the leading method is VnR now... which is to use vampire connectors to tap directly into the battery power cable and augment with an external battery.

The Pint controller is very different from the other boards (full o ring gasket around the top, different shape and with a clear top). Will be curious to see how the range mods play out but Vamp and ride will probably be the easiest way to go.

My point was that people are going to do what they want with their boards and FM is not going to stop them. Warranty stickers, resistors, screws won't matter.

Pint slate rode 7 miles and had 21% battery left. Mostly pavement, couple gradual blacktop hills. Temp out 77 degrees. I’m 6ft 225#s and tire pressure at 18psi.

Just found this out. I was using POWheel for a detailed readout on battery cell status . . . doesn't work now.

If they're going to go the Apple route, trying to create a consumer base of brain dead virtue signaling c##k-$uckers, locking everything down and making it impossible to monitor, experiment, upgrade, or repair your own board, I'm going to be the first one in line for aftermarket parts to build my own board. That day is coming if this keeps up. F##k with your customers at your own risk.

I write this on a heavily jacked-up 2014 Macbook Air running Linux. I gutted this thing because I got it very cheap and had it laying around, to get it to run the way I want. I'd buy new if was was stoopid enough to pony-up the dough for the insult of running what OS(u)x has become.

I'll pay a premium for an excellent product made by an awesome company that respects its customers.
