    Really glad I stuck some SUP board rub guards on the Pint. Need to keep it somewhat fresh if possible. So far so good after five miles... D6A21914-122C-4E6E-8BFD-F470FFA88C9F.jpeg

    @LidPhones wow -- i remember when my rails looked that good. SNIFF!

    Hey eventually it happens to everyone. All OWs are like tanks from the build perspective. Think of it as reason to customize the look down the road....

  • Franko @LidPhones 16 August 2019, 15:43 UTC

    @LidPhones this is a good point! but i'm gonna miss the limited Sage color if i had to lose it...

  • brahlay @Franko 16 August 2019, 15:52 UTC

    @Franko Good question, if they have replacement rails for the sage, as they're limited. I ordered the slate, so...

    They did not mention the cost, but another good question which i will ask them and post answer here. I'll also ask about sage rails for u.

    Thanks for the water tip -- before applying. However, I'm still not convinced enough to actually apply them. I'll just pay for full rail replacements.

  • OneDan+ 16 August 2019, 16:13 UTC

    I guess the real question is why they don't have color rail guards for the Pint, they have them for the + and XR.

  • a_onekatie @OneDan+ 16 August 2019, 19:03 UTC

    @OneDan my assumption was always because the pint has color options to begin with?

    I was frustrated they didn’t offer a clear version of the fender for the pint, that was the one I really wanted.

  • a_onekatie @Franko 16 August 2019, 19:06 UTC

    @Franko

    Quick question; did your Pint Fender come with an assembly kit? Mine is due to arrive today and I’m wondering if I need to pick up a set of Allen wrenches on the way home.

    As dirty as mine gets, not sure clear would be a good idea! LOL

  • Franko @a_onekatie 16 August 2019, 20:25 UTC

    @a_onekatie yes, it came with the wrench. you're golden!

  • TyDie @Franko 16 August 2019, 22:01 UTC

    @Franko carbon smith has some badass bumper sliders that protect most of the board, and they have bottom plates as well

  • brahlay @Franko 19 August 2019, 20:51 UTC

    @Franko Good news, from OW:

    "If you needed to replace a single rail it would be about $50 and if you needed to replace a set it would be a little under $100 I believe. We should be able to replace the rails of any color for your board."

  • Franko @brahlay 19 August 2019, 21:12 UTC

    @brahlay well, that's super exciting. now i know what to ask for for xmas, haha : )

  • LidPhones @brahlay 19 August 2019, 21:21 UTC

    @brahlay
    @Franko
    Very good news for Pint owners... Thank you for sharing the info.

    Is that user-replaceable or do they expect that the user will send his/her board to Future Motion?

    that's a very key question!

  • skyman88 @BNAS 20 August 2019, 14:23 UTC

    @BNAS @Franko

    With the exception of allowing you to replace a faulty front footpad under warranty yourself, all other OW work has historically been done by FM in Cali. That's been a major issue for customers outside of the country.

  • a_onekatie @Franko 20 August 2019, 17:16 UTC

    @Franko @BNAS LOL you guys have short memories! Scroll up!

    @brahlay said in Installed Pint Railguards:

    Also, I contacted support to see if they sell just the rails as replacements and they replied:

    "If for some reason your rails get damaged or scratched and you want to have them replaced we could do that. We would just have you send the board into our facility for the repair. If you were to do that we would not be able to send the old rails back."

  • Franko 20 August 2019, 19:52 UTC

    guilty as charged. i have the memory span of a chicken.

    Ha! Four children. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

  • skyman88 @BNAS 22 August 2019, 11:01 UTC

    The Float Life is out of stock for the Pint at the moment.. but they are another option for clear side kicks.

  • a_onekatie @skyman88 22 August 2019, 14:12 UTC

    @skyman88 those look better than the FM ones TBH. I installed mine yesterday and was really not impressed

  • LidPhones @a_onekatie 22 August 2019, 16:04 UTC

    @a_onekatie
    I have been testing a rail guard that has kept my sage Pint like new even after several rolls on concrete (that smaller diameter, firmer wheel has caught me a few times when the XR has cleared). Anyway now that I have a template and repeatable process I may bring them to market, still TBD. More to come.

    really? i think they look basically the same. i'd like to see their Pint ones installed, but even though i had difficulty getting mine on without bubbles (in fact i have many), from a distance you can't even tell.

  • a_onekatie @Franko 22 August 2019, 20:49 UTC

    @Franko well, it's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like the side kicks have a seem down the center (so they are actually 2 pieces). My rail guards shipped folded in half, so they had a bump down the center I had to wait out (about 2 days) before applying.

    Also, I wasn't expecting them to wrap underneath-- that detail + the thickness of the material make it impossible IMO to apply without trapping any air. And I can't imagine they will have any real longevity because of this. It seems very obvious that the first time I roll my board with them on something is going to give. As above, I personally would have preferred separate pieces here.

    well, i'll keep you posted, but so far i haven't seen any sign of them giving way. they are solid.

  • skyman88 @a_onekatie 23 August 2019, 14:12 UTC

    @a_onekatie I can only speak to The Float Life products but my rail guards didn't exist when I got my OW+ and my board took a beating on the trails.

    My XR had them installed at mile 0... I'm on my third set but that's just because they keep getting better. But the guards have stayed in place, are easy to remove and when taken off, my rails look like they still have zero miles on them. Plus @jeffmccosker who owns the Float Life brand is an awesome rider and all around guy. Above and beyond customer service.

  • a_onekatie @skyman88 23 August 2019, 16:34 UTC

    @skyman88 do the Float Life guards wrap around any edges?

  • skyman88 @a_onekatie 23 August 2019, 19:01 UTC

    @a_onekatie

    They are thicker plastic so they don't wrap but pieces (for the OW+ & XR, I assume the same for the Pint) are included that cover the top and bottom of the rails.

    I'm sure their site shows them. IMG_0414.jpg

    @skyman88 got it! That's exactly what I thought looking at the pics on the site and the No 01 reason I think they'll hold up better in the long run than the FM ones. Thanks!

    On a side note, my bumpers have finally arrived...everyone get ready for some real pretty Pint pics once I've hooked everything up this weekend (or later today).

  • a_onekatie 24 August 2019, 03:26 UTC

    Seriously? Do you think anyone cares or notices how pretty your Onewheel looks like (except you)? Dream on! My next door neighbor has two, both with cereal box cardboard fenders. One of them with over 3 K miles. Mine has folded up hay wire duct taped to a rail in case I have to tow it home (with fangs).

    it's just the float

  • a_onekatie @speedracer 25 August 2019, 05:13 UTC

    @speedracer people here care, lol, A.) that’s why we’re here to begin with, right? To share info. And B.) it’s also why most of us repeatedly ask for pics.

    But anyway it really doesn’t matter because I decked my board out for myself, the customization aspect is one of the details I love, so I don’t really care what anyone else thinks 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Have a good one dude!

  • a_onekatie @b0ardski 25 August 2019, 05:16 UTC

    Exactly!
    I made an ugly fender, not for others to see, (and cringe) but because when I look at it, it feels like mine.
    That makes me happy.
