Sign on its side... yesterday's ride. (Again, not my handwriting.)
-
@blkwalnutgrwr i kind of wonder about the legality of that. "no trespassing," sure, that's one thing -- but SHOOTING someone? and a laughable $50 "fine" for "property damage"? come on.
-
@Franko -- Just sharing what I see. You are right, the threat is highly questionable. A different rural property near the trail I ride is plastered with "Keep Out" signs, with junk and trash scattered everywhere. One day as I Onewheeled by I saw the unkempt owner sitting in his lawn chair at the end of the driveway, so I smiled and waved. He smiled, too, and waved back. Sometimes the 'gruff' is mostly bluff.

Or his freezer was full...

@blkwalnutgrwr Going thru my photos here was one that offered a challenge I accepted last autumn.
-
@HanahsDax ... the board looks beat while the tight, twisty, section is yet ahead ??
Great 'story in a photo'!
-
Graffiti round me isn't usually worth stopping to look at but a particular area gets tagged with nice messages now and then.
Took this 3 months ago and haven't been round there to take a look since. Might be worth a re-visit. -
@Lia -- Wonderful photo!

2020 Sign Of The Times.....

-
@NotSure Those private property signs are a real bummer

lol I ride there all the time. There's a small deck and a pier for docking boats behind the building.
-
A car with Onewheel aspirations.
-
Thanks for the heads up!
-
Just a suggestion right? We will ride it any.... LOL
-
Lol. A reminder to watch the road perhaps?
-

I love to go off road with my Onewheels and can tackle almost any terrain. Dirt, sand, grass, gravel, you name it. If you're serious about riding off-road, Onewheel+ XR is the king of shredding trails, but Pint isn't afraid of the challenge either.
-
@NotSure , what a lovely road! So different from my present view (sand, cactus, scrub, mountains) ... sigh. Lovely. Thanks for sharing it!
-
Getting Dangerous Now..... π€ͺ
-
Oh, the sign, immediately above, is such a strong invitation! I want to explore! :)
-
Took me a while to figure this one out -- FOOTVL-RICHMOND RD. (Footville-Richmond Road -- a cross street on the Western Reserve Greenway Trail).
-
-
A bench on the trail -- not the name of my Onewheel, maybe yours?
-
@LidPhones what? did you photoshop that or is it real?
-
@Swinefeaster
It is real and it actually looks like that massive board might roll... I would love to see that -

Who's the real animal?

Onewheelers have options
-
@HanahsDax I still can never figure out when given the option which is "more suitable" to ride on.
Bikes are more clear cut, but a Onewheel... still find myself swapping back and forth depending on who or what's around. -
HHanahsDax @Lia 5 June 2021, 01:04 UTC
@Lia Same here. With this particular route it depends on the season. Usually during winter the sidewalk is more cleared of snow and slush but during this time of year the aspen trees shed a super sticky shell that sticks to my tire and gives a distinct odor so I ride the road.
-
saved a spot for me.
-
A variation of a sign common on private property on one or both sides of my favorite Rails-to-Trails Greenway right-of-way.
-
Both Clean & Cheesy....
-
H
A sure sign of a good time. So far my favorite trail to date. Unable to ride it completely due to the Prospect Basin being closed until July 1st due to elk calving season but this particular section is my favorite and was my first time riding in 2021 and is not considered part of the basin.
-
@HanahsDax -- XR! -- Nice to see!
-
This is stuck on the refrigerator with magnets.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr , Awwww! Totally melts my heart! :)
-
H
A new trail to check off the list. -
So that is the new board with just 500 miles? I'm guessing you haven't yet removed the plastic protector from the rails? Is that what I'm seeing as "really scuffed up" --- just the thin protector film being tugged here and there?
-
H
@HorsePlay Correct, I put clear rail guards on them but havenβt removed the film from them. A couple sides have already fallen off and all that remains is the adhesive.
-
One evening at dusk I was riding here. Bent the knees slightly before going onto the βnew asphaltβ in case there was a little raised edge or something. But when I got there, all hell broke loose. I stayed in it and luckily the board was still there under my feet when the shaking and bucking stopped. I came back a couple days later to take a look in the daylight andβ¦
βVΓ€gskadaβ means βdamaged roadβ. It wasnβt just bumpy - there was this really big π³! π€£
-
@hattifnatt looks like a really cool place to ride! I too once discovered some unexpected roadwork during a very early morning ride.
New moon, no street lights. Cruising around on familiar roads at 16kph. I dropped 10 cm from the normal road surface with no notice. Might as well had been from the top of a building. I think I saw my grandmother! Luckily I was able to ride it out no problem, but that very brief moment when you realize you're freefalling into the inky blackness with no notion of where it ends is both terrifying and exhilarating. Really gets the blood flowing.
-
Most of my Onewheel travel is cruising up and down the 44 miles of the Western Reserve Greenway Trail.
-
Out in the middle of nowhere there was a wooden sign that said βdungeonβ and pointed down a tiny road towards a farm. I took a pass on that one, but it turns out it was legit.
https://allmogens.se/en/place/fangelsehalan-i-hammar/ -
The name of a cross road on the heavily forested Western Reserve Greenway Trail.
-
Etched in the concrete sidewalk on my way to the store. And again, while this is not my handwriting I do have much admiration and respect for FranKtheTanK as we trade positions back and forth, leapfrogging and jockeying our ways up the Plus Leaderboard for mileage.

UGH! I'm over it! Sure it's pretty, but between the hurricanes in summer, nor'easters in winter, and the general seasonality of it... I'm so tired of living on a 100 mile long bullseye!
Can I come stay with you guys in the desert?
I'll eat a san pedro for your entertainment. I'll stay with the horses if need be...
-
@NotSure Hope youβre doing okay with that latest storm that hit. Only just seen some of the images and videos from the coastal areas and it looks rough.
-
@NotSure , Bring an RV/trailer. We'll toss you a power line and water hose. We might have to be creative on reaching our septic with your rig's dump tanks?

just seepage. no inundation but it was a close one! Lots of other folks not so lucky. It was a lot of rain. 8+ inches in 3 hrs locally. Tornadoes and shit. I'm tired from hustling to mitigate. Nerves still a bit tweaked. I looked out my door and found a lake. Another few inches higher (4 maybe) and it would have been bad for me. I was really lucky.
So it's desert life for me. Gonna find a hill and park a tiny house on it. Hunt rabbits and snakes on my onewheel. I wish to live deliberately...

I hate to break it to you ... but deserts have flash floods. We were in CO last weekend (with our OneWheels!) monitoring alerts of flash flood warnings at home. Indeed, a big storm cell had stalled out right over our area. Lots of rain, plenty of lightening ground-strikes and one resulting brush fire. My first full day home I spent hours on the tractor patching, repairing and grooming the driveway. Relocated several tractor buckets of dirt from the south end of the property to the north to fix deep run-off ruts from neighboring properties. Fun, fun!
In other news, it sure was fun to take the OWs on their first road trip! Deliberately recorded at least a mile as we travelled state to state. Sadly, we missed Utah as we tend to cut across 4-corners and really didn't find a spot to pull off for the few yards of road that were actually in UT. I did point out a nice, long, dirt driveway ... but we didn't stop and then quickly found ourselves in CO. Ah, oh, well. Next time we'll remember that guy's driveway ... ??

i can totally relate. My risk mitigation game is on point! Nothing like watching all u have on the line... I hate it lol. Gotta get going on that ark.
-
Not that I actually saw this sign myself...
-
An interesting old family headstone from a local cemetery in which I used to Onewheel before I discovered the Greenway.
-
The hand lettering on this sign reminds me of the Chick-Fil-A billboards where the cows are scrawling to convince people to eat more chicken.
-
H
It was a No-Brainer...
Why not? Took Coco Loco. Only had to walk it twice. -
@HanahsDax -- I especially like the "WARNING: Advanced Riders Only" sign.
-
if you can ride a black diamond mtb trail on a onewheel, it's probably not really a black run :) just sayin...
-
HHanahsDax @Swinefeaster 25 September 2021, 17:49 UTC
@Swinefeaster I donβt rate them, I just ride them.
-
@HanahsDax Looks like someone tried ;)
-
HHanahsDax 6 October 2021, 14:39 UTC
Guess the trail name by the sign... -
@HanahsDax Loosey Goosey?
(Couldn't think of anything clever lol) -
@HanahsDax Heading south?
-
@HanahsDax Wild Goose Trail!
-
@HanahsDax
Goose Run ?
-
@HanahsDax Ganders Run
-
@HanahsDax "Beware, geese will chase you"
-
HHanahsDax 7 October 2021, 15:26 UTC
Thanks to everyone who played along. The name of the trail is The Galloping Goose. The trail follows an old railroad grade. -
holy cow (goose?), that's a gorgeous place!
-
No photo. In the autumn evening sun the back side of a set of signs on the trail I ride reflect blindingly easily a half mile. Today I did something about it -- the backs of those particular signs are now a comfortable, non-reflecting Farmhouse Matte Black.
