Downhill Max speed

So I've had my one wheel less than a week and absolutely love it! I did have a bone rattling fall when the nose went down and put me to the ground with a thud. Since then, I've been a little gun shy about going fast. When I go down a long hill it's very easy to go fast, but will the braking eventually stop and the board stop balancing me? Or is that just when using power to go forward rather than power to slow down? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I sprained my ankle by pushing past what it wanted to do the first day then never pushed past that since. Learned the hard way but the parameter became muscle memory. You def get better as you ride more. I live in maryland and have had mine for about a month. Every ride i take it up and down steeper and more gnarly shit. Today i noticed downhill it seems like if you push past the pushback and balance in the narrow window that is the terminal velocity if you will of you travelling downhill plus the resistance of the engaged motor which from what i gather reading other peoples posted stats is about 20. If u notice while off, the wheel spins more freely, it will not spin that freely while on. If it did and you had tony hawk pro skater cheat code balance, you could def go faster than 20 on the free wheel but be sketchy AF.

@jerimiya If you push past the speed that the motor can handle (around 20mph) it will lose the ability to self balance, and will also likely shut off. Either way you'll be on your own, which you don't want to be... especially going downhill at high speed.

How's that for downhill? Insane..

Yes my understanding is that it will shut off on you. You will nose dive forward at full speed, not cool.

Going down hill is an interesting topic. If you are leaning forward you should go fast but Gravity is doing most of the work so the motor has to keep up which is a whole different paradigm than going up hill where the motor fights gravity to move you up.
These topics are complicated because ultimately skill is involved and for a lot of riders leaning just the right amount comes natural so it's hard to say what the board is doing vs what the rider is doing. I love going down hills riding with the nose up and enjoying knowing I'm getting some charge back. How much of the nose being up is from me and how much of it is from the board? ....

Franky, that's exactly what I'm talking about. While going down hill the motor is braking, not trying to keep up by going faster. So I'm just wondering if the braking gives out at a certain speed? And I'm really gun shy about testing the limits on concrete while going downhill. Downhill, nose up is so much fun and I can very easily end up going way too fast.
