Car adapter charger
-
I would like to be able to recharge from my car.
Or a smaller sized charger that isn't the size of a brick.
Or a rechargeable brick that can charge my board.
Or even a solar trickle charger w/solar panel umbrella. -

Me too!
A car adapter seems most likely, though. -

Would it be bad to use one of these? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-2000W-Power-Inverter/16550317

I used such an inverter in conjunction with the Onewheel power supply, and it worked to charge from my car battery. But I'm still a little hesitant to keep that as a long-term solution. Just seems like converting DC to AC and then back to DC (with a significant voltage bump) would result in power of significantly different quality. I don't understand electrical engineering sufficiently to be confident that this won't harm, at least, the power supply.

great idea!

I would LOVE a solar charger to grab some juice while out surfing - but I can't image this would ever be a priority for FM.

@adubberley What kind of inverter where you using? What do I have to look for when I shop one?

I am using this sine wave inverter with no issues. Highly recommended for sensitive electronics!

@jim, Hows the inverter holding up? Even though you are able to charge your OW, are you cells being properly balanced? Anything you notice about your OW from charges from the inverter?
-
@enjoi408 No problems at all. Sinewave inverter is the only way to go to make sure you have no charging issues.
-
Do you use battery clamps? If so, where'd you get the cable?
Have you tried charging two OWs at the same time?

@jim What have you noticed about charge times? 30-45 mins? Can you charge 2 onewheels???
-
@enjoi408 My current inverter is rated for 2000 watts continuous. The Onewheel charging brick draws just under 300 watts. My original inverter was 600 watts and I could charge two boards at the same time. Charge time is the same as if you plugged into the wall outlet.
