I am going to try a backpack / duffel combination to travel but a custom bag would be the jam!

    I agree with this.
And it should have a handle and rollers to pull it around besides having pockets for charger and other items.

Maybe a lightweight and compact version with backpack straps for everyday use.
Keep it strapped to you back with charger while riding. Put it in the bag and wheel it around at destination. At some point charge it up so its ready for the ride home.

While still waiting for someone to design a proper carrying solution, I did a makeshift strap today for a small shopping run.
Taken from an old computer bag.

It's a pity it doens't keep your clothes clean while carrying...

@Polle Yeah, It's really nothing I'd use with normal clothes. It needs some bag features that would cover at least one side of the board.

@natalie @germx I'm thinking of doing something similar. How comfortable is it (aside from dirtying your clothes?). Any tips?

@kolinko Well it was quite heavy. Not extremely comfortable. A LOT better than carrying it around however, and with the fender it won't even get me dirty.
But my version isn't great, because the strap ins't made for that weight. It's held together by Velcro and a button, which fail after a while.
I'd try something that holds better, like natalie's version, and that distributes the weight more, maybe dual straps (again, like natalie's version). I only used my thing once or twice to the store.
