Mud Guard

It would be great if a mud guard can be developed for the boards.
-
Sounds like they have been working on this for a while with the initial issue being larger objects that would normally just be thrown out getting stuck in the wheel well. Makes sense because the space I between the board and the wheel is so small.
Maybe a cover less conventional angled out to each side from the middle to deflect objects out. Even then probably need quick release for the occasional random issue. Most likely any wheel well would work good for most pavement rides which is where most commuters wanting the protection are probably riding.
-
I'm really looking forward to one of those. If it's wet outside, shoes and pants will get quite dirty, and wet. Doesn't need much for that to happen. When riding in shorts, it doesn't even have to be wet. Having tiny gravel praying on your legs for the most of the journey is a strange sensation.
-
I want this much less now than I did when first receiving the board. If I am going to use one, I want it to be easily removable. I only see myself using it when it's wet out.

Drove thru Santa Cruz today and saw a guy getting his lunch on a Onewheel. He had a Mud Guard on his Onewheel. His helmet also had the Onewheel logo and he was heading into the Onewheel hq direction. So I guess they are working on one but are still out testing it.
It looked pretty cool, not like there would be a lot of space between the guard and the tire. I was too late (or he to fast) to take a picture of it. Sorry.

@OneDream I can neither confirm nor deny that

nice, beta testing mudguards!I like it! Hopefully its an attachment we can all install ourselves with a little drill. While you are at it, make it reach the grip tape so your grip tape won't slip either. 2 birds 1 stone, js. :)

Is this the same as a fender? I want one!

photos anyone? - what about just putting a loop of plastic over the wheel - from wood to wood - not sure about sizing but I have a4 plastic sheets for printer - would that work as temp measure?
-
@eish, check out any of their social media for photos.
-
@Franky I know - I just saw that now - it looks quite cool - I hope they include it with new purchases - I'm almost ready to buy :)

Any one know or any further info on when/where we can order this??

I'll say it again.... stop refreshing for the time being... "RUMOR" has it that they will be available in early September.

I've gotten water, mud and gravel thrown onto my shoes. But there's something about the naked wheel. Not sure I'd want a fender.
I've accidentally touched the wheel with my foot while riding and it was a non-event. It isn't the safety hazard I imagined.
-
@sidebox I forgot where, but someone said it was coming out on Friday.
-
@veryous Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to come out sooner. I just literally changed my socks after going out right after a storm.
-
Now I can't recall where it was. I remember the September thing, but there was a post somewhere talking about Friday.

I was thinking about buying the onewheel, but I was wondering "man, I wish it had a splash/mud guard." It would certainly sway my desicion into purchasing one.
-
@drodify if that's what will sway you, man, you are missing the entire point! Get it now, buy the guard later when it comes out, if you're disappointed I'll buy it off of you.

There was an official message a week ago in News & Announcements saying that the fender would "drop tomorrow," which would have meant last Friday, August 14. Perhaps that phrase referred to some sort of internal milestone, but it's apparently not an accurate release/ship/availability date for the public.
I placed my new OW order over last weekend and specified in the shopping cart notes that I wanted the new fender. I heard back from the company about my order note this past Monday, August 17:
"We aren't planning to release the fender until early September and unfortunately have not started official production - we will let you know as soon as it is available for our current riders. Unfortunately the fender will not be included with orders (yet at least)."
And subsequently, once I pointed out that my OW would not be shipping until after the projected fender availability date, they added:
"Unfortunately the fender will have to sold and shipped seperatly from the board. The fender will be shipped directly from our factory while boards are shipped from our fulfillment center."
So, don't hold your order or adjust your plans waiting for the fender. It will only be available separately from a new board purchase for the foreseeable future and only sometime in "early September," assuming things go according to schedule.
Hope this info helps people.
