Can you carry-on to a airplane???

Sorry if this question has been asked but would love to hear experience with carrying onto an airplane. I am headed to Europe and would love the cruise the alleys of Rome and Paris with my OW. Has anyone carried on and what have you found? Could check as well but would need a good case for it.

I have checked and i have carried on. Definitely easier to carry-on if you are business or first class as there is more room and attendants are generally nicer. In coach, just try to board early, as the OW takes up "different" space than a traditional bag.

I generally get on early, then watch it like a hawk while people always try to move it around to fit their bag in. If you don't like confrontation, just check it and forget it for a few hours.
