Winter is Coming

I go to school in Upstate New York and i'm worried about the salt and slush across campus. does anyone ave any idea how the board handles these things?

Winter is not the friend of OneWheel. The slick is terrible for both driving and lateral traction on anything with more than the smallest patches of snow and ice. I don't think the rubber compound itself grips very well even in the dry at low temperatures. I did see one guy who studded his tire with pretty good success, though, if you want to go that far.
Your battery life will suffer considerably. I don't know about the road salt, but it's probably terrible. A number of people who've rode around in the surf had to send in their boards, and freshwater beach riders never seem to have that problem.
It's a three season machine for most intents and purposes. Still worth it for those other 9-10 months of the year.

@bmtka I've already got my OW and im in love, this will just be our first winter together. I'm probably not gonna ride it in the winter at all to be safe. Thanks!

@pat_hurley Oh, don't get me wrong. You can totally have some fun on it, just suit up and expect to fall a bunch. You just won't be riding it very much and certainly won't be commuting.
It's a good time to send it in for service if you need any, though.

Stupid winter, I'm gonna have to find some abandoned dept stores/parking garages for some indoor riding

whats best storage voltage for these batteries? 75-80% charged?

@pat_hurley
There are plenty of nice days in Winter.
Just bundle up good and it's tons of fun.
Whenever the roads are dry, I'm game. -
@cascadewheeler the official FM post "Keeping you in the game" under Tech Support says to store the board fully charged

@sonny123 yep and I've ridden over salt roads and it's OK.
