Removing the tire..

    I have heard lots of very interesting ways to remove a old or defective tire, but I am curious if the tire is already damaged, why not just take a knife and cut it open and then use wire clips or similar to cut the bead, yes its messy but you don't need any fancy eqpt or technique to do it just curious.

    @tony420121 that's a fairly standard way of removing the tire. Usually people do this with very old tires that no longer stretch. With a newer tire it's not really any easier or faster to cut it off. And...if the tire isn't destroyed, people may want it as a backup. My vega has 85 miles on it but i already switched to the Hoosier.

    My tire in question is on board #2 and it is 2-3 years old and thread baren so I am happy to part with it since I have the new replacement tire, the only difficult part I see is putting the new tire on the rim.

    Changing the tire is easier than you might expect. No special tools or crazy strength required. It's all technique:

    Got my OW+ for Christmas. Changed the tire in 25 minutes tonight.
