Onewheel Photoshoot Thread...
-
I didn't see this type of thread on here yet...
In my opinion, these Onewheels are such beautiful machines that I think there should be a thread where we post our favorite photos from our ride...
Yesterday I took my V1 out for a ride on the boardwalk between Mission Beach and Pacific Beach in SoCal. It was a perfect evening to put some miles on her!
Let's see your favorite shot in the environment where you ride!

Mine would be boring. Older, heavier guy just learning. So far my longest ride has been from my porch to the end of my driveway. :D
-
That pint looks great! And as for being a heavy older guy just learning, shoot... that's the best part of these things... old, young, short, tall, fat, skinny, anyone and everyone can float with a little practice under their belt πβπ΅β
Keep the pics coming! -
@UTrider I shall be the same, Sage pints are arriving in the UK the 1st week of October, my names on one and Iβm super excited.

@AgentWomack Nice bokeh!

Pic from my favorite place to ride so far.

I ride mostly bike paths, but this detour is a highlight of many of my rides. A deer crossed in front of me right after I took this pic.

Putting that treaded tire to work! Looks like a blast! π -
cruizing the new ski in/ski out neighborhood last week before the weekend snow, on the side of Schwietzer, new pavement is aaaawesome!!!

Took the OW down to Moapa Nevada to watch Union Pacific #4014 BigBoy pass through on its Southwest tour celebrating the 150th anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad. It is the worlds largest operating Steam Locomotive.
A little bigger wheel

You know those times when you get to the end of the day and you just need to relieve a little bit of life's stress... well this was how I handled it today.
I took my other V1 out for a sunset cruise. It was perfect!

Shit, I think you're right - even looks like the Vega's been hit with ArmourAll.
-
@Sponge315
LOL , No Windex just an old set of boxers to wipe down once home. Taking the pic from just far enough away is also key... -
@Kielanders
Yes, I have used ArmourAll once or twice in the 500 plus miles. Again the wipe down after rides makes a big difference. Also it keeps the wife happy (not dragging dirt into the house...). -
Also the XR rail guards from FM are a new addition...
-
Another amazing ride (and sunset) last night! No winter gear needed out here in SoCal π
-
@SixFootFiveGuy
Sweet Photo (nice color and balance). How is the V1 holding up? I noticed the + upgrade on the back deck and bumper.. -
@LidPhones
So I actually own 2 V1s, so I don't have to lug them back and forth between the two places I spend most of my time and ride. Both of my V1s are holding up and as good as new. The battery life is impressive, I usually get 8 to 9 miles out of a charge. I ride slower usually, meaning I'm not pushing the limits of the board, but I definitely cruise. On this board, I did upgrade the rear footpad, which required a change of the rear bumper. It has a bit of a different shape, but rides almost identical. When on my stock V1, I dont miss the plus rear footpad.
Long story short, the V1 is good as new, and I am certain the battery life is far better than my buddy's plus. I think V1s are underrated today, and the price for good used ones is unreal. Of course it's no XR, but I'm waiting for them to do a Pint XR before I go that direction. -
@SixFootFiveGuy
Very nice. I love SoCal.
At least for a while, then the the sheer numbers of people starts to make me feel claustrophobic and I need to retreat to my rural small town again. -
@Sponge315
Very good point... this place is getting so crowded. I was born here, 40 years ago, and I remember when the freeways were always empty. These days it's getting ridiculous and San Diego is turning into LA. If I didn't live on the coast, I wouldn't put up with it.Here's a shot from tonight's ride. Probably 75 degrees as the sun was setting. I guess it's all a trade off when it comes to how freaking busy this area is.

New solo float plate:
Naked front foot pad:
And new grip tape:
-
how well does the handle cutout work?
-
@b0ardski since itβs only about 1/4β deep I find it to be more of a convenient βgripβ point rather than a full fledged βhandle,β if that makes sense?
It will really only be a benefit, I think, to riders who either need to carry and maneuver their boards frequently and/or who often utilize the resting position in which the tail end is on the floor, the nose towards the ceiling with the weight of the board resting against your body; both of which I do daily on my commute.
-
more than nothin, I'll prolly get a solo plate eventually
-
@a_onekatie
How did the factory deck grip removal go on the front sensor? Some hair dryer heat to help release or did it take a bit more work than that? -
ZZSquared991 21 October 2019, 18:45 UTC
-
@LidPhones my factory tape was pretty shredded to begin with so the only special tool I needed was a razor blade.
-
@ZSquared991 oh snap! Imma have to rip off that paracord handle right away!

After a couple days of decent rain around here, in SoCal, the skies have cleared and the air is super fresh. Had to get out on one of my normal 7 mile rides this evening. I took a couple of "creative" shots...
Oh, and yes... I really am that tall π. 6 foot 5 inches, size 13 foot, and comfortably on a Pint! Loving my new Kush Nug rear footpad, today was my first run with it and it was a game changer.Came back feeling all refreshed and turned on the heater, cause it's an icy 60 degrees out π€¦ββοΈ.

Homemade detachable fender for the pint. One peace of plastic and velcro tape. Easy to store in backpack when not in use.

I just did my normal ride. What an amazing day, got up to mid 60s and warm in the direct sun.
Here's a fun shot of my Pint... these places are called Robert's Cottages, and are right on the ocean. Literally under 300 square feet, and the last one offered for sale was fully renovated and asking 950k. A completely outdated one just sold for somewhere in the mid 600ks. That's over $2,000 per square foot... crazy... but if I won the lottery... π -

@Sponge315 Ran you off the parking lot? Seriously? I ride my O/W INSIDE the casino's when I'm in Reno. I have a 6"x6" handicap sticker on the fender (which is legit - trashed knee from ski wrecks) that I show security with an explanation. Sometimes it even works LOL.

I've been super busy and haven't been on my onewheel in probably 3 or 4 months. I was kinda nervous getting back on it today, but it was like I hadn't missed a single day. I forgot what it meant to become 100% stress free. Damn I love my Pint!

@HanahsDax I can't get enough of that scenery. The fact your cam picks it up too with that stunning cloud pattern is amazing!
-
I guess I was logged out so I didn't see your (and everyone else's replies). I need to make sure I get notifications or at least check in more!
@Lia
The ride was epic! It was my first time up in that part of the country in the summer time. It's so nice out... warm weather, light out until super late, and fun little pubs all around!@b0ardski
I actually left the boat at home down south, sitting in the water right where she loves to be π. That would be a pretty amazing journey north tho! So far I have driven from SD to Oregon, which took 20 hours (had to stop in Fresno for a few hours for a work thing), ridden Amtrak which was a blast but took 31 hours!!! (But so rad cause unlike a plane, you can carry on whatever you want... including alcohol!), and of course flown... but not yet gone by water. Someday! -
I did get a wild hair this week... stumbled across a nice used XR at a deal I couldn't refuse. Under 200 miles, so barely broken in. It has some mods that aren't exactly what I would have done, mostly from a cosmetic standpoint, but it's all good.
I'll be changing the sidekicks to white with XR on them, probably painting the fender black, and I was thinking removing the strange surfboard pad grip, but the surface is actually quite comfortable and the big bump at the rear of the back foot is functional!
Took her out for a 9 mile ride around downtown SD (I'm back down south for now). It was crazy cause I would get 9 miles out of a full charge on my pint, but I was literally at 72% battery remaining on this beast! It was a very different ride than I am used to... far more stable and smooth. Of course less nimble, but I think I fell in love with the bigger tire again.Here are a couple photos from my ride!
-
@SixFootFiveGuy , Welcome back!
-
@HorsePlay
Thanks! It's good to be back on here and back riding regularly again! I plan to stick around and stay consistent this time, both on the forum and on the road π -
@SixFootFiveGuy Glad to hear you're diggin the XR, way more fun and stable on the sand,
I love my foam grips really cushy on the feet and barefoot friendly on the beach.
don't paint that fender, paint scratches off too easily, get a black fender use the box and I'll buy the blue one from you, mine needs an update at 2500mi.
happy you'll be kickin around here more. -
@b0ardski
So actually the fender was originally the army green color, and the guy I bought it from decided to paint it. He found some paint that changes color from blue to purple, depending on the lighting. He painted the fender and bumpers. Not really my style, but it's not actually that bad.I'm so hooked on this XR (over the pint). Yesterday I rode 12.2 miles, and today I actually used it as transportation and rode to a friend's place and back, getting in 18.9 miles! That's by far my longest ride ever, and second longest was yesterday's ride π.
Here are a couple photos from yesterday and today...
-
@SixFootFiveGuy , Where was the last shot (above) taken?
Thx! -
@HorsePlay
The one with the road? That was on the San Luis Rey River bike path, in Oceanside along the 76. It's a very smooth long path, maybe 8 miles or so.
The one above that was on the South Strand also in Oceanside.

Thank you! I thought it was familiar ... but I wasn't quite sure. We rode the San Luis Rey River path from the coastal trailhead to the skate park and back in June of this year. We took a side trip to ride the old I-5 Exit ramp (such fun!) and met another Onewheel rider, Martin, on the ramp.
Seems Oceanside is popular with OW owners! (We've seen or met some each trip we've made since becoming aware of this special rideable.)
-
@HorsePlay
Yup! I passed right by the skate park on this voyage! I also almost stopped at the freeway ramp and considered heading up it to take some photos, but I was a bit beat cause at that point I was close to the 15 mile mark. Next time for sure!Yes, there sure are a lot of Onewheelers around here!
-
Couldn't resist another ride in this amazing summer weather. Nearly 80 degrees on the coast, which is far warmer than normal! I'm so addicted to this thing... just a casual 7 mile ride today was the perfect end to another fine day!
***Check out the Onewheeling Guy that was randomly cruising by at the exact moment I snapped the shot! Total coincidence!
-
@SixFootFiveGuy if only the rider was silhouetted in the centre of that big fireball in the sky... 3 ft to the right.
Still a great shot for unplanned. π

Did an 84km ride to visit Kelmarsh Tunnel. Planned on going a bit further up the old railway turned cycle route to Market Harborough but forgot to factor in the terrain when planning the trip so had to cut the last few KM to make sure I made it back.
Just before getting to the mouth of the tunnel the GoPro that I'd been grabbing some neat ride shots died. Seeing as it'd been about 3 hours of almost non-stop riding a little break was sorely needed while I let the GoPro charge up. Never to miss an opportunity to grab a few pics I snapped this while I cooled off.
Good thing I cut the ride short. I got back after 6.5 hours riding with about 7% left on the gauge. Terrain knocked about 10% total range off my pack which I'm fine with, when I first started riding I rode exclusively on busted farm tracks which took an entire 50% off before I discovered the wonder that is paved surfaces. Learning to factor terrain losses on route planning has become crucial for these longer rides where getting it wrong can be the difference between having enough left for the inclines and a walk of shame spanning several kilometres >.>
