Some global data to share based on the FM server.....
Ok it seems that for the XR I have arrived at a holding pattern for several days which mean roughly 40 XRs hit the needed mile each day.
On a Pint the holding pattern is roughly 50 daily riders getting the mile in...
For the Plus with a lower ridership I got to the holding pattern much quicker and it seems roughly 20 riders capture the mile daily.
If any V1 daily riders can share what they see then I can update the post.
Also feel free to comment and post your position pic as a daily rider.
-
Great analysis! Interpolate some more, too, given mileage data, please. And it would be good to see data from other riders as well. Interesting data-crunching thread!
-
@LidPhones Only got the XR to collect data with but hope this is useful to your project. Pint to come if I get it rolling again.
Decided to do some spreadsheeting of my screenshots for the previous streak and new one coming.
Not sure if it's of any interest but it's curious to see the exponetial decrease in position change the closer you get to zero.
Interestingly I always theorised more riders drop out during the colder periods. Seems not to be the case at least for anyone in triple figure days streaked.With the new data I'm getting it should contrast the XR leaderboard starting 2019(March 10) vs 2021(January 9) and see just how many more riders are committed to the cause.
-
@Lia
Very good data. I would expect a similar % of short run streakers (riders that maybe hit ten or twenty day streaks in good weather. Neat to see how the rider base has increased over a two year period. I have been holding steady on the XR at 38 for that last several days... The Pint has gotten to 50th (a few riders dropped). The Plus is crazy quick on advancing these days as I am 22 days in and in the 15th spot... -
@LidPhones Oh wow things have changed on the XR, at around that point for me there was a decent level of movement and much closer to the top 5. Wonder where I'll be at 200+ days in seeing how this is going with what you're seeing currently.
Uploaded the spreadsheet to GDrive if you want to browse the data I collected or wipe mine and enter your own to see how it compares. (Apparently the graphs only show if you open it in Google Sheets or Excel)Best of luck with the streak, I'd imagine the 1Y mark has fewer people lined up or at least where enough call it quits so I'm curious where you're at when you get there!
Plus and more so the V1 have a lower bar to entry but still a delight to pursue, it is afterall the ride we strive for and not the end goal (irregardless of my newfound mission to get back up there). I imagine if FM make a new flagship the XR will taper off with Pint holding the most passionate rider crown for a period till the new board gets a decent backing of riders to claim the throne.
-
@Lia
Thanks for the data link. Absolutely, anyone of us that have been around for a bit are in it for the joy of the TerraSurfing. It is also nice to have goals to achieve while on the ride....I am curious what the next OW will be like.. I have heard rumors of many neat features... we will see once it is announced.

30 Day Update - Gained some on all boards. Really Holding Steady NOW....
XR = 265 days, t-100 days for the goal....

@LidPhones -- Not really the best weather for streaking, but I am right behind you one place in the Onewheel Plus line-up.

LOL! I see what you did there ;-)
-
Crossover points -- Ranked 37 at 37 hundred-some miles on a Plus. (The 37 day streak is coincidental and unrelated.) In the post above rank 36 was at 36 hundred-some miles. The bar is rising -- at this rate when I get up to 38 hundred miles I will be ranked 38!
-
Like hibernating bears Onewheel riders must be waking up and relinking their boards. In the past week or so I have gone from #36 to #37 to #38 to #40 now, at the moment on my Plus -- even with lately having logged a couple hundred miles.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr
So on lifetime it seems that steady activity does not matter just total miles reported from the controller when it links to the FM database.By the way you still one spot behind me on day streak for the plus? I am 11th as of today ....
-
@LidPhones -- A thaw has made riding springlike! And yes, I am #12 right on your heel -- if you glitch, I take your place.
Edit: Plus mileage rank #39 at 39 hundred miles.
Edit, again: Next I looked, right after I posted the first edit, I was at #38, and in a few miles more I find I am again #37. Just like a traffic knot a bunch of riders clustered at just over 3900 miles. In theory the rest of the riders up to the Leaderboard should be spaced about 75 miles apart. We will see as it unfolds and I chalk up more and more miles. -
@blkwalnutgrwr
I figured as much.. I welcome the motivation....🤪 -
Got to #31 and now sliding backwards again to Plus mileage rank #33 -- even with averaging sixteen miles a day. There must be more boards being relinked lately. Holding steady at #11 on the Plus Daystreak.
EDIT: Still sliding backwards in rank -- #34 with 4470 miles now, three days later. -
@blkwalnutgrwr
I am still @ 10th on the Plus Day Streak (79 days)... Made it to 31st on XR for 302 days, On the Pint sitting @ 42nd for 193 days -
Just curious: What is 'relinking' and how does it play with the Day Streak? Thx!
-
@HorsePlay -- In the app is a place to 'UNLINK' your board. I unlinked my V1 so I could monitor progress on my Plus -- as the app only shows the more prominent board. Unlinking for more than 24 hours breaks a daystreak.
Relinking restores position in mileage rank -- for example, if I relink my V1 I will be #2 on the V1 mileage Leaderboard with 10127 miles logged, and behind mekegul ahead of me as #1 (but then I would not be able to see the ranking on my Plus in my app). If FranKtheTanK relinks his 15,000 mile V1 he will appear at #1 for V1 mileage, mekegul would drop to #2, and in that case I could be #3. -
@blkwalnutgrwr ,
Many thanks for the explanation. I've not seen/found the 'unlink' feature. Is the 'Forget' button at the top of a specific boards Information ("i" in a circle) page the same thing/feature? (I'm running app on iOS.)
Perhaps this feature only presents itself to those riding multiple boards? Two boards show up in my app (mine and my husband's) but only mine is set to 'autoconnect.' I'd simply assumed that folks riding/tracking multiple boards simply 'connected' to each board, one at a time, prior to riding.
Huh. The app is a funny thing ... simultaneously annoying and satisfying. (Does anyone else find themselves reaching for their board but stopping short, "Nope. Can't ride; I don't have my phone on me." ???)
Maybe others simply carry their phones more than I do ... mine is often sitting on a table charging. Time to upgrade to newer phone and better battery, indeed. Yes, I need to upgrade my phone because of my new board-sport. Vicious cycle! When does this stop? LOL
-
@HorsePlay -- On the Leaderboard screen in the app, click on the gear-toothed icon in the upper right. Then you choose the board you want to unlink and click the bar at the bottom that says so.
A Onewheel can be ridden without the app: for example, yesterday I had forgotten my phone, rode fourteen miles or so, and reconnected when I got home; for daystreak purposes the app said that I had ridden ten miles -- anything over ten simply shows as ten. -
@blkwalnutgrwr , THANK YOU! I see it now thanks to your navigation.
Thanks also for the tip re: reconnecting after a ride w/out the phone. I'll have to try that ... but not yet ... (I'm too chicken) ...
-
@LidPhones -- Took your place as #10 in the Plus Daystreak. Guessing you are now #9.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr , Unfortunately I am back at 115th on the plus. This ride yesterday did not link up evidently. Hey one less board to ride everyday 🤪
-
@LidPhones -- I enjoyed being a pair for a while, sorry for your linkage problem. But I also know the release from riding three boards -- I did it last summer briefly maintaining a Plus streak, while trying achieve two places on the same V1 Daystreak, which I then learned cannot be done. So then I sold one, and this winter concentrated on riding one board at a given stretch of time.
-
@LidPhones Sorry that happened to you too.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr
Friendly competition is the best.... I hope to catch you again soon. -
@Lia
Thanks, mine was not 2 years worth of rides though.... Like you. -
Hmmm... I have been riding averaging over forty miles a day this week and last, even in the spring rainy days, and went backwards on the Plus mileage Leaderboard one place -- despite having logged half a thousand miles. I was at #22 chasing #21, now I am at #23.
To get up to #10 now, though, is less than a thousand miles. Maybe in June. -
Well, I got up to #8 on the Plus Daystreak... but spilled again with bruised ribs (edit: two fractured ribs) and bruised hip... not likely to ride in this all day rain, today.
And that #10 I am yearning for on the Plus Mileage Leaderboard will likely be delayed for a while -- fortnights of riding half a thousand miles will not be happening this moon.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr Bruised rib and hip sucks, been a while but I remember never wanting to do it again. Hope that heals up quick!
-
Wow, I am impressed with myself for piecing together the facts of the fall. Riding without a stock battery the XT60 connector came loose going over a bump (I had not taped it like I usually do) while at the same moment I was braking, giving no place for the regen to go. That resulted in an overcharge notification and severe momentary pushback which I tried to compensate for... but power was already cut making braking reaction useless and a recipe to fall backwards.
The confusing jigsaw had been the overcharge notification and subsequent board behavior very much like overcharge cut-outs I have experienced in the past -- freewheel rolling with slippery, hard plastic tail bumper doing nothing to slow it down. It also explains the severe momentary pushback of overcharge cut-out. Had I been accelerating instead of braking when the XT60 came loose the result would have been a nosedive and fall forward, with no notification or pushback. By the way, this was five miles into the ride -- plenty for the EGO batteries to be in a charge condition to accept the braking regen had they not disconnected at that moment. Solving the mystery makes it hurt less! At least in my mind anyway.
Edit: Precautions for my continued Onewheel riding: #1. Make sure the battery connectors cannot come undone! #2. Safety gear: Hip pads on BOTH hips in addition to helmet, elbow, knee, and tailbone pads; maybe add boots or ankle pads, too. #3. NO backpack or book bag with a heavy battery to fall on and impact ribs adversely; instead strap both EGO batteries to the fender, or use only one at a time.
'Painful lesson' is not just a figure of speech.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr agree totally, understanding why you fell is key to getting confidence back.
Like many onewheelers I ride and used to race motorcycles. It pays to walk the location where the crash occurred and work through the events.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr
Heal up fully and be safe out there. -
Well - Back in the chase on the OW+ @ 17th position after 11 days.
Still riding towards the 365 days in a row on the XR but the App did not sync at day 326 back on 04-16-2021 and FM was not able to fix, even with proof, (just an email saying "you will be back again in no time and be sure to link up before midnight"). So I will hit my 365 date on 5-25-2021 (Goals.... LOL).
-
First day back on the Plus, nine days after a fall -- #101 on the Plus Daystreak.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr Glad to see you back on the board again. Nice number to return to as well :)
-
@blkwalnutgrwr
Streaking with the Plus is moving faster these days it seems....I am between 12 & 13th with 19 days in. Need to get my mile in for today so I can see my spot.
-
-
@LidPhones Very clean board, Like that you can just see the sensor through the griptape.
-
@Lia
Thanks!
Yeah, I am liking clear grip with bring your own color rattle can. It stick really well and gives you unlimited option. -
@LidPhones Oh that's how you did it, was wondering.
-
Letting my Daystreak go by the wayside after tomorrow while I wait for FranKtheTanK to join to make a three-way mileage tie at #5. Note my average in this streak has been very near 35 miles per day (or 245 per week, or 1050 per month).
-
@blkwalnutgrwr A commendable reason to break your streak.
You could unofficially keep it going though by just not syncing the board with the app on those days :)Note my average in this streak has been very near 35 miles per day
Excuse me what...?
That's like 6x mine (I aim for 10k a day average) -
H
@blkwalnutgrwr Your decision has probably already been made but I hope you reconsider. It would be great to see you on 3 spots on the leaderboard (after you relink your V1) I hope Frank plays along and we get to see the first three-way tie on the leaderboard. If you stick to your plan I imagine we will be seeing you on the V1 day streak top 5 in no time.
-
Hi @HanahsDax -- Thanks for your input, I considered continuing with the daystreak and up the mileage board, but decided to try to let Frank catch up -- again I am wishing for a triple tie. On the main Plus I have been running with your motor, as the Plus I was trying to build was giving me odd behavior with either motor. Yours seems to be working great in my daily ride! For the meantime now until I get back to riding the Plus, I added freewheel brakes to my V1, a long blue barrel plastic rear footpad, and a sturdy and solid fender/battery-platform built of 2x4 scraps.
Edit: After pushing the Plus for speed and distance for the past seven months and thousands of miles, the V1 feels sketchy and a much different style of riding -- yesterday I nipped three V1 nosedive dips in the bud, and so this morning swapped my spare Plus controller into my Plus set-up. Riding it today felt smoooth and wonderful.
-
Didn't know where else to share this so I figured here will do, I have managed 8888 km on my XR~
Enjoy the silly gif, getting good at these lol. -

Indeed you are! This is quite professional!
-
On this very same day that HannahsDax has logged and documented his 1000th day in a row of riding Onewheels, FranKtheTanK joined a three-way tie for #5 on the Plus Leaderboard for mileage. Of course, Frank did not stay there long -- only about the amount of time it takes to ride a mile.
-
@blkwalnutgrwr Nice one! Shame I missed it but thanks for sharing the screenie~
Seems like you and Frank are going to be racing eachother up the ranks now ;) -
Made it to 8th in 35 days on the Plus! Hopefully can make it past 8th in less time the next go round. Unfortunately not able to keep the streak alive due to some needed air travel.
Back at it in about a week….!

Party's at your house! Celebrating 10001 miles today on my Onewheel Plus!

Oooooh! Good questions!!
-
@b0ardski -- The original battery was still strong when I took it and the BMS out, switching to solely EGO batteries this spring. Much of the mileage was on a Burris treaded tire, the rest on a Hoosier 5.5 treaded tire.
-
that's good milage
