So after a few months of searching for the right bag for my OneWheel and not really being able to find one that ticked all the boxes i decided to try my hand at designing and producing one myself.

I'm not a bag manufacturer but i have had bags made for filming equipment and i figured why not design something completely bespoke for the OneWheel that will allow me to preserve this expensive bit of kit and allow me to travel with it with ease and peace of mind

And this is it the One Penny Bag:

    https://vimeo.com/160148784

Thanks to those that have already purchased the bag, i'm chuffed to pieces you're all pleased with it. And to anyone else who's interested then do not hesitate in contacting me at jimmersis@mac.com

    Cheers

    Jimmy

Definitely show a photo of the final product, as well as a price if we were to order the same bag through you. This is one of the better designs I've seen for a Onewheel bag.

Hi there, of course when it arrives I'll be sure to upload some pics. Here's an example of another bag I had made recently and it will follow in style and quality

    0_1453999404694_image.jpeg

It will be a well constructed bag, designed to protect the one wheel with or without a fender. I've designed it to house the charger plus various other pockets for other items. It will have an elasticated cargo net of sorts to hold bulkier items.

@Jimmers75: I am also interested in a bag similar to this or to the design by @rue1013 - both interesting concepts.
i´ll definitly need a bag which it easy to carry around on your back sooner or later...would also appreciate if the bag could cover @njcustom ´s great fenders...looking forward for pictures and prices of some finished bags in the future

@Jimmers75 The quality of your finished bag looks impressive. Would you consider designing a Onewheel BACKPACK similar to the pack owned by @rue1013? With roughly 4,500 Onewheel's out there in the world now, I think you would get a lot of buyers, including myself.

I like your mock up design as shown. Will be interested even if it costs $$$ as long as the quality of materials is high end for durability.

@Code-ster I think the photo was just an example of another bag he's had made by the same company as an example of the quality that the Onewheel bag would have... Which I think is actually a backpack.

And what I like about it is the flat, padded side that will be against your back. That's one thing that's worried me about some of the other designs, is thinking about the weight of the board pushing into your back when you wore them, but this looks like it would fix that.

@thegreck Good point. Although, I realized the photo was purely to demonstrate quality, I didn't look too closely at the illustration where it plainly reads backpack straps.

@Jimmers75 Thank you for tackling a backpack design. If I may lend some input, there are plenty of backpacks out there that will easily accommodate an entire Onewheel and then some. In other words, there are plenty of HUGE packs on the market to choose from, even if they aren't tailored for, or contoured to the specific shape, of the Onewheel. And while these Goliath packs may get your Onewheel to where it needs to go, there's nothing especially appealing or stylish about cruising around on your Onewheel looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. We need something smaller.

If you're open to modifying your design, please consider removing the lower portion of the pack (below the wheel), and include some sort of secure zipper or velcro opening at the bottom that would allow the end of the board to hang out, as demonstrated here @rue1013 0_1454722958782_1450497701203-ow-pack-resize-1.jpg Here I modified your illustration to demonstrate. 0_1454723541939_Screenshot_2016-02-05-17-39-41-1.jpg The red lines denote where the bottom of the bag would end and the green line indicates where the end of the Onewheel would stick out at a zippered opening.
Looks way smaller! Stitch a simple molle system on the upper portion above the wheel and any helmet can be attached.

I think with @Code-ster 's design, there would need to be some straps inside that would hook around the deck of the OW to keep it from falling through the bottom of the bag... but agreed that this would be a much more compact version.

Hi, so i've had loads of messages come in asking about the bag and i thought i'd throw together a POV product video that showcases the bag with a OneWheel in it.

I apologise for the quality of it, likewise my presentation skills (definitely got a face for radio!) but hopefully it will answer a lot of questions quickly that i'm being asked and of course if it doesn't then don't hesitate in contacting me

great video and awesome product - i think this is the perfect bag for travelling! now someone would just have to make a small "daybag" for the trails and all my OW-bag dreams would have come true:-)

i am thinking of something which you can use for hiking a little bit with the board on the bag, and once arriving at the trails just have it on your shoulders in a compact way so you can enjoy the ride (and manage the bails) while feeling "light" and free...;-)

@MichaelW Hey thanks for the kind feedback Michael. Yeah I get the concern around the airlines ban but don't think about it as just a OW bag for the aircraft hold, it's a great OW storage bag for the home/office/car. Infact since I've had it delivered its been great at keeping the OW from rolling about in the boot of my car, likewise keeps the car dirt/sand/grit free. Thanks again speak soon

Really excellent looking OW travel bag. Nice work!

@cr4p If you have a pack you like already for day use, it's pretty inexpensive & easy to strap your OW onto the outside of an existing pack. Here's the strap I use....
    https://archive.owforum.co.uk/topic/1204/diy-ow-backpack-hack

It's just a few ounces, secure and fairly comfortable too (depending on your backpack obviously) if you're just using it for impromptu short distance hauling.

    Riding in Tokyo since 2015... OW/OW+/OW+XR 3000km...

I've had loads of questions come in about the bag so here's some answers for anyone else interested in buying one.

    Am I a bag manufacturer?
No making this bag isn't my main day job - I'm producing bags as the orders come in

    What's the cost?
In US Dollars - $273. €245 or £190. This excludes shipping and PayPal costs. I do appreciate the feedback that this seems expensive however this is a totally bespoke travel kit bag for the OneWheel, there is nothing else like it on the market that will protect the OneWheel in a similar way.

Wooah that's expensive! Do you not think it's expensive?
Expensive is subjective, if this bag allows you travel with your OneWheel wherever and whenever you like, conveniently without it getting damaged, then no this isn't expensive.

My viewpoint on investment into kit like this is that if you opt for an alternative home made travel option, a cheaper non protective not so robust option, that loosely protects the device with little protection then as with most things in life that come in cheaper the eventual cost is the more expensive option.

Take this scenario as a relative example; you want to travel with the OneWheel, it's by plane. You've got the worry of the luggage dudes giving next to f*$k all respect for your personals and as they throw the OneWheel about it inevitably gets damaged. You now have a useless 25lb dead weight to have to cart about and you either have to send it back for repairs or worse case scenario it's written off.
No I can't guarantee the bag won't definitely protect your OneWheel from over overzealous, disrespectful baggage handlers but it will give you a fighting chance of bespoke protection.

A mate of mine pointed out that he has a similar bag for his clubs when he travels abroad or long distance. He paid a similar price for a quality, robust and padded bag that does what this bag has been designed to do for your OneWheel

Will the price be coming down at all?
I am looking at an alternative way to bring the cost down, but that means a trip to China, multiple visits to bag manufacturing companies I'm in touch with but right now I'm stacked with my day job, the visit is on the cards but it will have to wait.

    What's it made of?
A mix of board for stability and denier ballistic nylon fabric, a hard wearing durable nylon that is durable and water resistant. Modern applications of ballistic nylon include luggage, cave packs, tool belts, police wear, watchstraps, motorcycle jackets, knife sheaths, and skin-on-frame kayaks.

    Who's buying the bag?
Since I brought the bag to the forum's attention i've received a lot of interest from riders all over the globe but mostly bags are shipping to the states.

No stress if this isn't for you I totally get that but the OneWheel is not cheap, has a lot of sensitive electronics on board that need protecting when travelling or just when storing it and my design is based around that protection.

As I'm travelling more with this bag both for business and pleasure I'm seeing the value of its convenience and capability more and more and in doing so I've become super passionate about it - as I'm sure is evident by this update.

Anyway enough of me by all means e mail me at jimmersis@mac.com with questions, feedback or orders

    Thanks

    Jimmy

For anyone curious..this bag is legit. It just arrived yesterday and is the perfect bag for traveling with the OW. Fits like a glove and has storage inside for a gopro, mount, charger, etc. Build quality is top notch and seems like it'll be able to take a beating. I'll report back after a few months, but I can't see anything going wrong with this.

This may be a silly question but has anyone figured out a way to transport your helmet with this or a similar bag? I am trying to get my gear so it doesn't end up all over the place in the Jeep. I suppose I could just clip it on the outside but is there a better idea out there?

@duc809 The One Penny Bag is equipped with modular side attachments plus one bungee so in effect you can attached and fix your helmet or other equipment to the sides with bungees or straps.

I could probably have produced a bespoke cargo netting that attaches to the side of it was of use.

Also, I think someone earlier had concerns about something like the strength of the compartments or how well they sealed with the velcro. Well as soon as I unzipped my bag and turned my back my 2 1/2 yr old boy had climbed in and was sitting on top of one of the compartments like a seat. It completely supported all his weight and did not bend or dip or anything. This thing is solid.
