DIY Fender ideas?

I've heard bad things about FM fenders being "cheap material " and breaking easily. I was wondering if anyone has made a Homade fender or anything similar?? I just dont want to waste 80 bucks when I could spend around 5 to 10 and be able to just make another if it breaks.

If you are comfortable heating and molding PVC, I have listed the basic steps I used to make mine.

I debated whether I wanted to spend a lot for a plastic fender. I found one on Amazon for $60 by DIYE that has worked great since May and has been durable so far with many wrecks.
